I wouldn't have thought of Harmon as a libertarian at all, but I don't listen to Harmontown, I just know him from Community.

Harmon's pretty a-political on Harmontown. Every once in awhile he says something like "The government should just stop telling people what to do!" But anytime someone starts talking politics, he pretty much defers to whoever seems most knowledgeable.

Also he recently said on the podcast that the Zardoz head that says "Droppin' loads" is based on a porn star and his catchphrase. I'd always wondered what the gently caress was going on with that thing.

I've been playing board games with surprise Rick and Morty fans all day and it's been great. One of them turned me onto Jerry's Game, and we've listened to an embarrassing amount of people music.

Do Harmon and/or Roiland have a history of being vocal libertarians, other than Rick hating the Space Federation? If so, could links be provided?

From what I can tell (not a Harmon diehard other than enjoying some of the stuff he makes) Harmon seems to have a lot of contempt for the media companies which make television and employ him, and Roiland is, err, eccentric.

Dan's not a "libertarian"; he just really, really, really hates being told what to do, by anyone. It's pretty much his defining character trait -- it's what gets him fired all the time, and it's what makes him stubborn enough to force some really odd but fantastic stories into reality.

Also, he's gone off ranting about "the government" telling people what to do sometimes when it turns out that the organization in question isn't governmental. I can't tell if he's doing it as part of a joke or if he really assumes it's always "the government" telling people to do. Example: if a church says you have to do X, that means "it's not religion; it's government".

It can be both.

Like how I hear that on his podcast he'll say "I have a drinking problem" and then pour himself a vodka.

All I heard was his wife calling some tabletop game money "New Yen" as Wing wangs and wing wongs constantly for laughs. She is not good at getting laughs.
Probably why the divorce. lol

I'm flattered, and humbled.

Also, the marriage plots are good and funny largely because they do keep re-hashing the same problems over with little to no real growth. Like the rest of the show, it's pointing out the insanity of how people act in real life, but with aliens in the basement or whatever instead of non sci-fi stuff.

Oh, and being cynical and hating authority does not make you a libertarian, or else basically every comedian ever would be a libertarian.
e: to be fair maybe they are, I don't really pay attention to a comedian's political stance as long as they're funny and mocking things I hate.

Hey, for what it's worth, the currency of Shadowrun is called Nuyen. It's a dumb relic of the 80s, and it doesn't excuse the wing wong stuff. But at least that part wasn't her being racist.

With the feds taking over earth I imagine the start of season 3 might resemble the fish out of water stories that kind of drove early episodes of futurama

I wonder if once Rick's free him whipping up a new portal gun and just moving the whole family to another Earth/another reality just to get them back to 'normal' just won't happen, either.

Now the entire family has to deal with sort of the same thing Morty's been dealing with for the last several episodes: This isn't his world, this isn't his family, etc.

You know, most of the time I sort of balk at "have dinner with a celeb" prizes. Like, do I really wanna hang out with Zach Braff? Is that gonna be cool?

But finally, with fine folks like Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, I feel like there's a class of celeb I'll fit right in with.

Yeah, having dinner with most celebrities is like, hooray, I'd love to have the curtain lifted and every future thing I see you in be clouded by the super awkward interactions we had. With Harmon/Roiland, you know what you're getting yourself into.
