You shouldn't be allowed to order food for yourself if you enjoy boneless wings. Treasonous to Spoon Nation.

Yeah, While I am still a firm member (Heh heh) of spoon nation (well isn't that special..) Boneless wings, and breadsticks are weak.

He also said he never had the impulse to eat trashy food, so he really was the minority report.

Neil Campbell quite frankly isn't qualified to guest on the podcast. For that I believe his review should be removed from the record. I consider this episode to be non-canon in the doughniverse. It will need to be revisited. Perhaps with a more professional/knowledgeable guest host. Such as Armen Weitzman.

Five guys episode was good, a great return to form. I would agree with the review of Five guys. I live very near a five guys, and work very near the same five guys. I find it to be quite over priced, over hyped, and really clumsy. It's like an In n out wannabe that isn't as confident in their burgers, so they give you tons of customization options.

I think the topping complaint is weird. How hard is it to say what you want on a burger? They are overrated and overpriced though. Of course, I think In and Out is also overrated though.

It's a dumb argument to say you want your burger choices to be more narrow, I disagree with that point they made. My point is that it feels like they are attempting to make up for overpriced burgers with a toppins' menu. Also, did anyone else get the feeling that tiny wiges burger boy is still reluctant to admit his error in shakegate? I think we here at spoon nation need to demand he read a prepared statement of our creation. Something detailing exactly how wrong he is, and how sorry.

A Five Guys little cheeseburger is 4.50. That's not overpriced, that's the minimum you can pay for a cheeseburger worth earning.
|
# ? Jan 15, 2016 18:57 |
I don't like fast food places that make you pick all your toppings and stuff, it's counter productive and causes decision paralysis. And if you think... That's not a problem for you personally. Well maybe not directly but you're standing in line behind someone for whom it is.
|
|
# ? Jan 15, 2016 19:10 |
And 5 guys is a lower end version of like shake shack or the million places that sell counter burgers for 10-16 dollars so it's priced pretty well for where it is in the market.

The last time I went I definitely asked my self "what did I just spend 9 dollars on." I don't think the burgers are as big as they were making them out to be either. At that price range I'd rather go to a bar and get a good greasy bar burger. That has the added bonus of being about to be drunk while I eat it. Also their fries are bad.

I don't get Five Guys at all. I heard all this hype that they were an In N Out killer when they came to L.A. several years ago but it was really disappointing. Expensive and not even close to INO. It was like any old burger you'd get at a rundown BURGERS-BURRITOS-PASTRAMI place. Decor totally rips off INO too. And the peanuts? The only place I want free peanuts is a bar. Who walks into a burger joint starving for some peanuts?

For under 7 bucks I can get a double double, fries, and a soda. Which is I'd say a top 10 fast food cheeseburger. Now, lets get the small cheeseburger, small fries, and a small soda at five guys. These are current prices at Fresno CA little cheeseburger 4.50 fries (small) 2.29 drink (again small) 1.99 total 8.78 cents And that's not even comparing against the full sized cheeseburger at five guys.

Agreed, they're on the lower side of what they're trying to do, and that'd be fine if the lower side didn't also include 'there's a bar near me that makes burgers and can make a gin and tonic that's really tasty so why would I go here where instead of a gin and tonic I get peanuts?'

Wow, I don't disagree with 3.5 forks for Five Guys but I am surprised they didn't like the fries. The cajun fries are definitely my number one fry choice from any restaurant, fast food or not. Honestly I would rate the burger as alright but it's still worth a visit just for that greasy paper cup of hot-out-of-the-fryer fries.

loving hell. Yet again, the spoon man speaks the truth, and in all honesty might have skewed his rating a little high for cpk. Then the consummate amateur tiny wiges the burger boy 100% misses the point, and puts up another failure of a review. How do you treat the pizza at the cpk as some kind of non-issue? Really wiges? For shame on you. For shame.

Dull episode this week. I was expecting better from an episode with Matt Besser, but he's so goddamn low energy, and I'm tired of hearing about UCB at this point.

Being the resident doughboys expert, I feel like I should comment. This weeks episode was entirely lackluster. My shining lights were Tiny wiges the burger bitch chomping on the spoonmans flavor with his own drop mixtape, and the celebrity guest question from Armen Weitzman. Who is always a welcome addition to the show. As for the choice in restaurant. While Krispy Kreme might have been an on the nose choice for the doughboys, the one note flavor all too sweet menu ended up being the achilles heel this episode. Leaving their almost sedated co-host to regale us with inside jokes and stories of the mythical oh so under-exposed UCB. If you are a fan of the show, skip this episode. It was a misstep.

They were really trying to impress Besser and it really threw off the dynamic. It would've been better if he wasn't so boring and weirdly pretentious about everything.

Dissenting opinion, it was good and i didnt even realize that people expected Doughboys to not be boring/low energy etc, i thought that was part of its charm. Theyre just talking about chain restaurants
|
# ? Jan 29, 2016 02:06 |

I thought it was a great episode despite Krispy Kremes not being a chain restaurant. They don't even have breakfast sandwiches. It's just a donut spot! But veteran UCB people being audibly scared of Besser is always funny to me.
