I think I would prefer to win one that isn't a record breaking amount and will have constant news coverage. The winner should wait until there is some sort of huge news story before they come out and claim their winnings

That would keep the media off their back.

I think the most honorable thing to do would be invest it well and use the income to establish a philanthropic organization. Failing that, just donate a percentage of your annual revenue to the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation. Also, buy a Porsche or something cool.

You can tell they're not the same, because 1 is not the same number as 40. But I'm sure the people that sat out of winning office pools and just bought one ticket because "it's the same single pull" totally don't spend the rest of their lives kicking themselves in their own rear end.

People also believe that if you hit the button harder you're more likely to win at slots. People believe that pulling the lever on a slot is different than hitting the button. So, yeah, people probably do believe that.

There was a guy that played work pool every week for years and was out on sick leave when his coworkers won. He successfully sued for a share based on the persistence of his past participation.

Inzombiac posted:People don't believe that, right? Yes, they do. People at casinos will snype a machine that they saw someone already drop a bunch of money in and walk away broke. The theory is thus; The machines are literally set to pay out a percentage of the cash they take in, in a 24 hour period. 80-20 is a "normal" amount (I'm going from memory so please double check me if you want), however takes of 90% or higher are not unheard of. In some states there is a penalty for setting machines higher then say, 95%, but the fine is laughable small. So, some casinos will set there machines to a 99% take, pay the fine for the month and pocket the difference. Once word reaches the public that they have done this poo poo, attendance drops and they reset the machines to a more fair payout and run some promotion to drum up business. Which let's them readjust their machines to a greater take and the wheel in the sky keeps turning. So their theory is, this putz put in a 100 dollars, the machine needs to payout 80, at some point. It could be the next one dollar spin, netting them 79 dollars profit. Your guide to gambling, brought to you by the VendaGoat Corporation.

a guy in a casino was furious at me for hitting on something like 12 because i got a 10 card and he really wanted a 10 well shithead the 10 couldve been the next player card after what i got and i couldve helped you out you dont choose your next card you choose to have a next card or not to these are the same people that think they can count on a number being randomly drawn when its due on the basis that an ace of spades will certainly come if you deal out 52 cards except if only 1 card is dealt in a round and then all cards are shuffled then the ace of spades is no longer guaranteed every 52 rounds, it is generally "due" some time in the next 52 rounds no matter how many prior rounds it has not been dealt havent seen the ace of spades in the last 150 hands? when is it due, then? likely some time in the next 52. the odds of it being drawn between shufflings dont get better

What's the max you can spend at one time? Can I go into a 7-11 and buy 10,000 unique numbers? Is there a chance of a # being selected twice in one large purchase or does quick pick not allow repeat numbers?FrankieGoes posted:'Fraid not. 40 in 292,201,338 is still spectacularly lovely odds, but it is not the same as 1 in 292,201,338.
