Watched Spectre the other night, was pretty meh overall. Entertaining sure but not something I'll go out of my way to watch again. Been watching Rick & Morty, loving it.

Think I have a Game of Thrones date in a couple day. When she found out I had only seen season two she set up a night to start season three:dance:

Rick and Morty is a brilliant show. Rixty Minutes episode is by far one of my favorites.

Interesting fun fact: uh, Moynihan and Piece of Toast hate each other. Apparently they've got some real creative differences,

It's superb and I resent having to wait 18 months for series 3. I suppose the Pocket Mortys game will hold my attention for at least a month.

Yeah I did not like it that much. Not in love with the new star wars either. Same story over again and predictable, but at least a cool movie to watch on IMAX.

Spectre and the new Star Wars are basically post modern rehashes of stories that were told better in their original versions. I give both about a 6/10.

Given the prequel shitfest, that was perfectly fine. Bonus that it was a lot more than just a rehash.

It's this. Don't bother comparing that film to the old movies, that ship sailed forty-odd years ago. The only meaningful comparison is the prequel trilogy and it's vastly superior to those. Not brilliant but adequate.

It helps to remember that the purpose of Episode 7 is to prove that Disney know what they're doing, and assure fans that these movies will be like the originals, not the prequels. It's done that, and more, in my eyes. Episode 8 is where the real fun starts :getin:

Well yeah, Ep8 is where actually competent directors take over. (Technically with Rogue One).

I disagree. He has been the producer on a lot of stuff but he's actually only directed a half dozen films. MI3, Star Trek, Super 8, ST Into Darkness and SW. MI3 is not good, Super 8 is absolute garbage. Star Trek is great, Into Darkness is a poo poo remake of Wrath of Khan.

Exactly. Abrams is a Star Wars super neeeeerd and he admits he has no love of Star Trek. Good thing too, he made two very watchable Trek movies rather than the usual utter crap that got served up and that right royally pissed off Trekkies :D

I cant imagine how big his nerd boner was when he got tapped to direct TFA

Big enough that he turned it down multiple times before accepting the job in turn loving over Matthew Vaughn who had been offered the job, accepted it and passed on another film he would have done and then got the boot when JJ decided he wanted to do it after all.

And Into Darkness is a lovely, lovely film by any sci fi standards. And neither of his Trek films are as good as First Contact anyways.

But that's not what Plinkett said!!! First contact is bad cause it doesn't match characterization from the show and they do things that are different and HURR ACTION MOVIES BAD

Just had the cops called on me for pumping gas at a closed gas station. The lights were off but the pumps were on, so you could still start them up with a credit card. I've done it dozens of times in Ohio with no problem, and I thought it's just what you do when it's late and you need gas. I was down to my last gallon on the way home tonight, and I didn't want to wait to do it tomorrow morning before work.

I ran my card, turned the pumps on and was 8 gallons in before the guy inside the station yells at me over the intercom. "Hey we're closed! It's illegal to pump gas at a closed gas station! You're trespassing! I'm calling the cops! Don't you go anywhere!"

I continued with the rest of my fill up,13 gallons total, then got back in my car and started it up because it's loving 20 below freezing tonight. The attendant ran out in his t shirt with a cordless phone in his hand, I guess to try and block me if I left. The cop came soon enough and talked to the attendant, talked to me, then told the attendant it was his fault he left the pumps on. He asked if I was paid up for the gas and told me I was free to go.

Mind you this was just at like 10pm, nothing too ridiculous. Honestly though, I should feel pretty fortunate to live in a town where the cops have nothing better to do than respond to a guy pumping gas with the lights off.

E: got to work and saw this lil guy hanging off my fender. Surprised it stayed there over 12 miles. Hellafrozen!

So has he ever directed an actual original movie? MI3: series. The Star Trek films: reboot of a series. Super 8: remade ET. Star Wars: series, also basically A New Hope remade.

Also just looked up his writing credits and lol, he wrote the new Star Wars, Fringe (meh), Lost (lol), Super 8 (lololol), Alias (lol)... the only good thing he wrote was the Dr Strangelove homage in Armageddon.

Where is that gently caress 2016 gif?

Being 1000+ miles away from family can really suck. My sister's dog suddenly fell ill, kinda sounds like a stroke, but there hasn't been any actual diagnosis yet. The dog is currently staying overnight at the emergency vet for monitoring, and until some specialist comes in Monday morning. When my sister left, the dog seemed awake, but didn't react to her, hopefully its the meds they used for sedation. The vet seemingly just made the whole situation worse. Wouldn't let my sister leave one of the dog's blankets with the dog, so the dog is probably going to have no clue where he is, and the vet wanted to charge my sister for expensive medical procedures that were not done, and my sister did not agree to, under the promise that such charges would be refunded at the end of the stay if the procedures end up being unnecessary. Of course, since the dog seems to be in bad condition, my sister was asked if she wanted to complete a "DNR". Her husband was an utter prick by challenging her decision at-least 3 times, after she had decided it, forcing her to relive the trauma of that decision over and over.

All I can do is leave a voicemail on my sister's cell saying that she and the dog are in my thoughts. Sure as hell ain't gonna sleep tonight.
