I think those suspended ink lines could be interesting in multiplayer. Shoot both ends to activate a shortcut for your team, shoot a line controlled by the opposite team to break the connection until they repaint that end again.

Didn't sponges shrink when an enemy hit them with their opposing ink? I dare say you could do something with that in multiplayer.

Well, you can't have them grow when one team shoots them and shrink when the other team shoots them (which is how they worked in single player). The function needs to be symmetrical.

So what do you do then? Shoot an enemy sponge once to shrink it, and then again to grow it in your colour? Is that functionally much different than just literally painting some ground?

They could be placed over pits for the danger factor, but why would any player step somewhere they can be OHKO'd by an enemy shooting the ground?

Why not? You'd have to have a level that suits them, but I don't see any problem here.

Why not just have sponges on each side that are colored differently so one team can shrink and the other can grow and vice versa, or make it so the sponges can be shrunk by the opposite ink and then taken over and grow again

Sprinklers spray out ink in two directions while spinning, there ought to be a pause long enough for the fan to stop and lower the platform. I'm guessing the fan spin is based on damage so a blaster can make it shoot to the top.

I dunno man that's awfully messy.

Its frustrating enough in single player when you jump to a sponge and it shrinks and you barely miss and die. Having that happen all the time in multi because somebody sniped the sponge while you were mid-air would be even more frustrating. Watching your teammates jump to their deaths over and over would be worse still.

Most everybody would just route around the sponges. And then probably camp them.

Well, I think Im done with ranked. Your reward for getting to S+ is getting matched with nothing but very distant players no matter what time of day I play. I guess there aren't many players to choose from at this rank.

If a .96 gal so much as looks at you; you're dead so most of the time you need to play very defensively because you're dealing with 500ms+ of lag.

Maybe Deranking to S rank on purpose would give me some better quality games.

I'm still figuring out the actual utility of pairing ninja squid with a splatling gun, and I'm not entirely convinced I need three special savers with a weapon that shits out an inkstrike every fifteen seconds, but at least I look pretty badass. Bomb sense is pretty useful, too, especially when seekers are in play. That said, the wiki can't decide whether ninja squid slows down swim speed by 5% or 10%. Which is it?

Something I'm going to test after splatfest is whether or not run speed up affects movement speed while firing a splatling gun. If it does, there might be an actual use for it after all!

Well, with literally my last 30k, I managed to roll three run speed ups on my punk cherries. I can confirm--you do seem to move faster when firing a splatling gun with stacked run speed up than without. I figure that's useful for a lot of weapons, especially the squelchers and the splattershot pros, which slow you down to a crawl when you fire them while moving.

e: And I'd still like to know if ninja squid slows down swim speed by 5% or 10%. The wiki can't make up its mind about that.

15 KILLS WITH A CARBON ROLLER! God bless ninja squid and ink resistance!

I know it's been said before, but I'm not entirely sure what to do against a charger. It seems that even if they don't directly kill you and you avoid their attacks, that they can at least pin you down/kill your teammates to the point where the rest of the team will do it.

I'm sure more practice will prove otherwise, but good lord.

Also I wrote off the heavy splatling guns early on and they're a lot of fun. You lose a little versatility and movement, but it's kind of a fun change of pace!

Best thing to do with them is get close enough to one shot them, but god drat is it the worst to sneak up a charger with an inkbrush and have them throw splat bombs at their feet. It's just... why would you make this weapon amazing at range and up close?

The way to deal with a charger is that you hope they're bad and not laggy, and try to dodge their shots by canceling your movement momentum and zig zagging through enemy territory while simultaneously keeping good position to deal with the rest of their team and taking care to not get too close lest they land on you and turn into a kraken, or land on you and drop splat bombs on your head instantly killing you, or land near you and instant snap shot kill you.

Dodge their shots as best as you can, and try to get in on their sides or behind. That works for most chargers. Getting under them works too. I've also had good luck with suppressing them with longer-ranged weapons, sometimes they panic. Alternatively, hit them with an inkzooka. E-liters are a pain in the rear end, though--they like to spam burst bombs at anything that comes close. And they always, ALWAYS stack damage up, meaning even uncharged shots kill in one hit.

And yeah, the splatling guns are really good.

The coolest part was that we were one guy down at the time. We managed to keep them on their half of the map. :c00l:

I hope burst bombs are the next thing they nerf. Even dynamo rollers aren't as much of a pain in the rear end as an e-liter sniper right now. All they'd have to do is up the ink cost or lower the damage.

The problem is, there are other kits that rely on burst bombs that would be affected by a nerf like this. There's no simple solution to this other than changing the kits to not include burst bombs.

If they want to nerf a sub, they should start with the ink wall.

Well, I don't think they're going to change the kits any time soon, so I guess we're just going to have to deal with it. Someone will figure out a good counter eventually.
