I just found the everfall and I'm assuming it's not something you're meant to do as soon as you get to Gran Soren because these zombie are literal walls of HP

Cialis Railman posted:The PC controls are OK. I'm playing as a strider right now. Being able to use the mouse to aim is a godsend, and the quick access keys are useful as hell (Even though you can only map your lantern and curatives to them for some reason.) The only problem I have is that the primary/secondary skill buttons are mapped to lctrl and lalt by default, and that takes some getting used to. The bow toggle is pretty weird, too. Rebind secondary skill toggle to caps lock, because why the gently caress would you ever need to have walk/run toggle on anything but / on the numpad. Also if you see Fetish in the pawns be aware that crates killed her parents and she will break god drat everything. Also if you rushed to gran soren it might be best to go do other stuff until you're like high teens low twenties to do it.

Some random tips: - You take a whole lot more damage when your weapon is sheathed. Be careful while sprinting. - Curatives won't spoil if they're in your storage. In fact, after a few days they'll reset back to 100% freshness. They can't go up a freshness tier though, so your Sour Ambrosial Meat won't turn into regular Ambrosial Meat. But if it was 30 seconds away from becoming rotten, you'll add a whole bunch more time to it. - If you're a Warrior, you can smack ore deposits with your weapon instead of using a mining pick. - On that note, you can give your pawns mining picks and they'll mine ore for you. Works best with an Acquisitior. - If you have the Controlled Fall ability, you don't have to time your button press to get up quickly. Just mash it while you're sailing through the air for a fast recovery. - Discipline Points are gained when you get EXP. However, smaller amounts of EXP will give you comparatively more Discipline. Turning in a quest for 5,000 EXP will give you a piddly amount of DP, but killing 50 enemies for 100 EXP each will net you a poo poo ton. Anything under 100 EXP will give you the maximum amount, so feel free to stab any Oxen you pass by for a deceptively large amount of Discipline. - Wolves hunt in packs Vargs fucked around with this message at 12:02 on Jan 16, 2016 |

So if I want to have a really baller melee Mystic Knight, I should go Assassin from 10-100, right? I started as Strider for more Stamina. Assassin seems to give lots of Stamina and Strength, right? Every guide for Mystic Knight seems to suggest wildy different things so who even knows!?

It plateaus, so take your time and make some adjustments, grind some money, upgrade gear (buy and enhance it). The difficulty largely goes downhill from there. You should just play a few other classes for key augments and then switch to Mystic Knight when you have them. There's no point in spending 90 levels as Assassin when you want to play MK because you're already finished with the game by level 100. The classes with augments you'd probably want for a physical MK (fighter, warrior) have good stat spreads anyways.

None of the guides were consistent with each other and none of the ones I could find felt like really explaining any of it in detail. So I just said gently caress it and maxed out everything.

Awwyeah, who's the Arisen, that's right, it's me! (Note: may also be you.) I remade Garrin the eventually-will-be-an-Assassin. Again. I keep playing him because I love bow-and-dagger nonsense and also his giant nose. This twerp is my pawn, Faraj, and his entire existence revolves around being a healbot/buffbot. Back in the day it used to be really hard to find a decent healbot mage in the Rift once you got to be higher in levels--everyone's pawn was a sorcerer instead, and also a tiny half-naked waifu--so I made my own and I'll keep him that way. (Well, all right, he'll spend a short time being a sorcerer to pick up augments, but he'll change right back afterwards.)

Haha, see even got varied advice here. Looking at Assassin there's not much there that'd help me besides monster stamina and strength growth. I think I'll pick up some fighter levels or whatever for the augments I want and then work my way to mystic knight when I'm beefed up. I think last time I played I was a crazy dagger assassin man anyway. I'm overthinking it I guess.

Has anyone figured out how to force SSAO using Nvidia Inspector yet? Having some ambient occlusion would make the game look so much better, especially in those dark caves/ruins.

I am so happy that it requires zero effort to fill a party with lumpy, misshapen squeeky voiced dwarves obsessed with picking up rocks and sticks and skulls. This game coming to PC is going to be a strong contender for GOTY2016.

Decided to do another solo run as a Fighter/Mystic Knight. Went with a minimum-size Gnome-looking character since my last one was a max size Orc. When I'm not using pawns I like to make my main pawn into Feste, give him some kickass upgraded weapons and leave him at level 6 as a nice surprise for new players who have just reached The Encampment. Shame you can't make an exact copy of that little dude. Where's my butt-chin option, Capcom?

So is there a general path people use to take when they level vocations for stat gains? I've been trying out Strider->Assassin but i don't know how to play this game proper yet so I kind of suck at it

So, don't I lose Rook at some point? I don't remember having him for this long, and I've reached Gran Soren. Also, can I use the barber as many times as I want? I know you get an item to change your guy as much as you want, but that's for later.

You have to manually remove him from your party at a rift stone. Or at the ocean, I suppose.

Spent half an hour fighting at the bottom of Everfall waiting for the inevitable "here's your experience for all that trouble" which never came. So yeah after consulting the wiki, pro tip: once you've advanced Lure of the Abyss by going to the bottom of the Everfall, head back out (but use the passage in the room, not the stairs, else you miss a bunch of loot).
