how much would that change though? does japanese samus go yo adam-sama thank you so much for locking me in this room for my own good

also i like that implicit bit of characterization, samus has no direct dialogue until the end when she gets pissed off at adam which means she wasn't being a silent protagonist in all the other mission briefings, she just never felt like responding

Yooo that's freaking nice. So basically I gotta hope that My Nintendo rolls out here before my birthday month and also hope the titles on that month are as nice as these? bit of a crapshoot but i'll take it.

It is, but even the Wii U version requires you to either play with the WiiMote vertically and a nunchuk, which sucks, or a WiiMote held sideways, which isn't that much better. This basically sums up my problem with the Wii.

Hey, at least it was a good Halo game. It even managed the impossible; an escort quest that didn't completely suck balls.

Is it? I like dialogue when done well. I just think we haven't seen the Metroid game that has dialogue done well yet (and we never might).

I dunno about voiced dialogue but Prime 2 had some pretty fun and clever writing in the logs.

I think they said March, around the same time as their first mobile game.

The My Nintendo birthday cutoff is the 24th of each month, incidentally.

The Marine's logs were really good. My favourite is the one about how one of the Privates just would not shut up about how much she idolized Samus Aran, while the rest of the squad are thoroughly convinced Samus is as real as Santa Claus.

voltcatfish posted:

What I meant was, you'll be eligible for the birthday coupon as long as you sign up before the 24th of that month; the actual date of your birthday doesn't matter.

For example, say My Nintendo launches on March 10 but your birthday is March 9 - as long as you sign up before the 24th of that month, you should still get the discount.

yeah, but Hunters was a bad Metroid deathmatch FPS with zero competition so it was a fun novelty, where Federation Force is more of a bad Metroid hunting action game, and there are already several of those on the 3DS

I thought the game started out as some kinda weird gun sports game called Blastball, but halfway through development they shoehorned in Metroid? Kinda like how Dinosaur Planted became Starfox?

If they put scanning in, that's a day one buy

Federation Force was set up to fail.

We're cold off the heels of the disaster that was Other M still begging for a new, real Metroid. Thought to be unrelated, this new "Blast Ball" game got a very tepid response at the Nintendo World Championships. Then we find out that it's the new Metroid game we've been asking for? It's just disappointing all around.

All I want from the Metroid series right now is to have them try to make a 2D game that is completely scary and immersive that rewards exploration with upgrades that increase mobility and turn Samus into more and more of a nuclear option in unexpected ways. I'd also like them to reintroduce the beam combinations that only appeared in Super Metroid where you can turn on and off upgrades to create different types of beams and bombs.

Give me increasingly more disturbing looking giant bosses that require me to damage race until I figure out their weakness or clever way to use my weapons and the surrounding scenery to destroy the boss with.

Some of these things I'd like in the next Kirby game. Miss combining powers like in 64. And the true final boss was freaky.
