You used to be able to savescum it, but they patched it a while back on console to save after you roll. I think. Also protip: If you're not particularly interested in actually doing the escort quests but want the rewards - you can grab a couple of port crystals and place them at the escort destinations before you do them. There are multiple jobs which end up at the same places, namely that goblin fortress and bloodwater beach (or whatever it's called). If you have port crystals at these places, you can teleport there and your escort will also teleport with you.

One is from the story quest to explore to the bottom of the Everfall, the Portcrystal is right in the middle of the bottom level so make sure to grab it. There's another roughly due north of Gran Soren, on a Hill your pawns will comment on. Once you get pulled into the cutscene, explore the house to find it. Port crystals can be placed anywhere in the world to teleport you. And you can carry one around and drop it to warp back to Gran Soren to sell/store/level up poo poo then warp back.

Moldy (not rotten) Apples/Grapes plus water makes wine which is an amazing healing item and that stuff is super common. Also can let you make some items you need for weapon/armor enhancement. Pretty meh otherwise until postgame when you get some crazy things opened up.

Is there some trick to early hardmode I should be taking advantage of? Currently I'm just grinding out gold for Black Cat gear, but at 21 I've only just started being competent against goblins/wolves/harpies.

The problem is that those cost Rift Crystals, which aren't exactly easy to get with pawn rewards not working, at least not early on. It's fine in the late game but early on 5,000 RC is pretty steep.

So I'm trying to max the Rank of sorcerer before heading into Magick Archer on my first time playing, because I heard that is a smart thing to do, but it's turning into a chore. Would I be missing much if I just decided to play Magick Archer without that 15% casting time decrease?

So if I was doing an escort quest and the target died, what would be my best method to try again? The saves versus check points system is confusing as hell given that what they call saves function more like traditional checkpoints as far as I can tell.

I wish there was some way to tell if a quest is in your level range or not. There's currently four escort missions on the notice board in the first town, and I'm pretty sure at least three of them would take me to certain doom.

Gran Soren is the first big city, right? I've reached there, and I've done a bunch of the quests, and I haven't seen any "eternal ferrystone" in my inn storage. Am I just doomed to buy ferrystones like a prole forever?
