Disco Salmon posted:Chicken feet though lol I only use them for making stock. I pick them up at the local Asian market store...and funny enough they are labeled as "chicken paws" there too. So do you think they do that so it's not like "ew, feet right next to my pork chops!" or something? E: new page, so vindaloo! Ugly but delicious if you like hot stuff.

I just had the best idea for a TV show. It's a cooking show with auditions, so the contestants send in videos of themselves cooking something and then the short-listed ones cook live for the judges. It's promoted ahead of time as "Australia's Best Home Cook" or something, but secretly the chosen contestants will be people who are absolutely terrible at cooking and have a ridiculously inflated sense of their own ability. The judges, who would be in on it from the start, would heap praise on the contestants each week to maintain the charade.

I assume you'd be one of the first season contestants? At least until you have an autistic meltdown when you see someone buttering toast in a slightly different way than you're used to or whatever.

It would be the first cooking related show in Australia I would actually watch. Heck I'll even dig up an RF lead to watch broadcast TV for it. And if my 'slice bananas then put then in a bag with coconut flakes and shake" equals a recipe then I'm in as a fake 'in on it' contestant.

I bet the store owner just used google translate when labeling. The Chinese name got chicken feet is actually Phoenix Talon, which does sounds more appealing. On a related note, if someone offers you spicy duck feet then you should eat the hell out of them, cause they are tasty as gently caress.

Yeah, it's a distinct reddish brown which is the actual color of red velvet cake. The non alkalized cocoa also has a kind of fruity flavor that tastes different than a cake made with Dutch cocoa and massive amounts of dye.
