The American political spectrum seems to be on a slope which always goes farther to the right. And sometimes it feels more like a wall. I still like to think that we'll look back on this in about fifteen or twenty years and see this period as nothing more than the last gasp of dying reactionaries and a stain on our nation, much like the attacks on the Civil Rights Movement. Whether or not we'll actually learn anything from it, I really doubt it, but I still think we'll swing back to sanity once the old scared white demographic thins out a bit. That or after we get some less ridiculously Gerrymandered districts so relying on the least rational voters are not as viable prey for crooked politicians.
