Rebelschat: This show is still pretty good, man. I still totally think Ahsoka Tano is completely going to die but Rebels is strangely weird about how it oscillates between being a show for Star Wars nerds and a show for kids who watch Disney XD. Like, the comic-relief Imperial officers get goddamned decapitated. I don't understand why Ezra gets so much flak for being ~the galaxy's specialest snowflake,~ because he behaves like a generally good-hearted but cynical teenager would act. His character arc is also cool because we see him fail and lose battles and overcome hangups and stuff. Kanan Jarrus might be one of my favorite Jedi characters ever. Hera Syndulla and Chopper are still my #1 and 2, though, in some order.

One of these lists is going to a midnight tournament on Saturday... and I'm leaning toward the StarViper, since I'm not sure when else I'd get to use it if not when everyone is dead tired and playing like shitters. Kanan is awesome precisely because he sucks at being a Jedi. He's a remnant of the glory days, a vestige, a reminder of what was once really cool and good about our galaxy of space magic, and I think some of the other characters hold him to that standard instead of who he really is - a trainee. It's not entirely unlike an army reservist being championed as this Great Hope when he barely knows what the gently caress he's doing at all. Like, when Vader shows up, he completely dunks on Kanan and Ezra combined. He's a lovely Jedi and not a very great role model at first glance, and the best part is his awareness of these factors, and how they influence his self-image. Being a lovely Jedi who is aware they are a lovely Jedi, and takes steps to shore up his weaknesses re: being a lovely Jedi, is a pretty cool character, and Kanan has grown on me a ton since the start of the show.

Which is also hammered home again when the two inquisitors give him and Ezra a bath, and then out of the space port walks Ashoka Tano, veteran soldier, trainee of Anakin Skywalker, frequently schooled by Kenobi, Plo Koon, Yoda, and Captain Rex, survivor of multiple battles with Sith Assassin Asajj Ventress, Droid General Grievous, infamous bounty hunter Cad Bane, Mandalorian warriors, fallen Jedi, and would-have-been Jedi Knight if not for her departure, who proceeds to take all of a minute and a half to whip them six ways from Sunday, including reaching up and simply plucking the lit sabre out of the seventh sister's hands.

Also, I think a lot of the stuff in the new trailer is gonna be headspace Jedi fighting, in meditation, rather than fighting Vader herself... for now.

What kind of lists do they run? Fat ship + ace escort is maybe the only conceivable list in which sticking two ships on Omega Leader to melt him isn't the go-to plan -- actually nope I think I'd still try to blow him up immediately.

Like, the entire point of Omega Leader is that if he's the last ship on the board to your last ship, it is a loving nightmare

Apart from aesthetic, which you can't really argue since it's subjective, I legitimately do not get the cheering-on of the Empire sometimes. Yeah it's fiction but the Empire and First Order are literally space Nazis, so even ironically being like "gently caress Yeah Empire!" seems sketchy, depending on the person. Like some people I know who are all about the Empire I can tell it's purely a style thing, but that TIE Fighter short's comments are seriously :wtc:

Also anime shipgirls are seriously the most bizarre loving trend I've ever seen, and I love me some X-Wings
