Wanted to try out Rainmaker on the new map just now. Played 2 matches and had to stop, just wasn't worth it. I guess when all the Japanese players are absent, that's when the lag really starts to shine. Second match went on for another 10-15 seconds after time ran out. It was so bad at times, even the music couldn't keep up and started skipping.

Europe's next week's Splatfest: Kinda weird, considering pirates were mostly Europeans, but eh.

Barbarians. Ninjas may strike in small groups, but Barbarians will just come in hordes and burn everything as they go without stop.

Does Europe have some dumb age rating issue with pirates like they did with nunchuks back in the '80s?

It's playing style. Brute force and rushdown vs stealth and sniping.

Team Barbarians all the way, that is the most correct answer

I'm curious. Which weapon type are you best with and which are you worst with? I'm best with sloshers and suck miserably with inkbrushes.

MustelaFuro posted:I'm curious. Which weapon type are you best with and which are you worst with? Inkbrushes are kind of weird in that defense ups don't have much of an effect on their damage, since it's it's somewhat random where the ink flies out of them. It's possible to kill someone in three swings of the inkbrush regardless of how many defense ups they've stacked. However it's also possible to completely miss someone with every swing of the brush. They could really benefit from some ranged options like the inkzooka or burst bombs. It takes a minimum of four hits to kill someone and if you run into someone while ink dashing they will splat you. Rollers are super problematic for inkbrushes since they're a one hit kill at your most effective range, coupled with Japanese lag they will simply crush you. Now that being said, in terms of turf war I've gotten 1600 points with the standard inkbrush (before victory) and there's nothing out there that beats it in turf coverage. Any map with a lot of corridors or places to snipe from screws over inkbrushes as does trying to travel across grating. If you're actively trying to kill people with the inkbrush, you're ignoring the strengths of the weapon. Which is why I've never seen it in A+ rank or above. It'd be easy to make the inkbrush viable for ranked, just have the ink dash be a one hit splat, charging across the field like that is a hell of lot riskier than any of the other one hit weapons in the game.

Are we still doing fashion checks? Ah, I'll do it anyway: This is my regular gear when I want the job done. But once in a while I try something new for a change. This dapper squid was so fresh I got back to rank S.

drat, that's actually a pretty good Splatfest. Barbarians all the way, and I'm not just saying that because that's Callie's side. MustelaFuro posted:I'm curious. Which weapon type are you best with and which are you worst with? I'm generally pretty good with shooters of all kinds, but I'm best with splatling guns. I'm pretty bad with chargers and rollers, but I think I've been getting better with them. I've been trying to get experience with all the weapon types, just to keep things fresh.

Weapon of choice is the tri-slosher, followed by the Lunablaster Neo and L3-D. The Tri-Slosher and Lunablaster sort of work the same way though -- run up to someone in zigzags and unexpected ways like a complete spaz, and then frag the sucker. It's very successful except specifically against dynamo rollers. My worst is by far the chargers, especially the light ones like squiffers and bamboozlers. Special mention for the H-3 nozzlenose, I keep messing up its timing.

Usually I'm an all-rounder, but I seem to be stuck with Squelchers at the moment. I'm not that much for stealth - yeah, I know - so I just use range to my advantage. The faster firing rate then compensates if someone gets up in my face. Something if you had a rapid blaster (my second favorite class of weapon) would be in trouble. That said, I had a nice run today with the ink brush on Arowana Mall and Ancho-V Games. Nothing like painting turf behind enemy lines and launching ink strikes.

FactsAreUseless posted:If you like the Aerospray, give the Splash-o-Matic and Sploosh-o-Matic a try. They have a similar range, they're not as good at covering ground but they have really high damage so you'll win a lot more fights. I like the Splash-o-Matic better for covering ground than the Aerospray, honestly. Haven't tried Sploosh yet.

Alxprit posted:I like the Splash-o-Matic better for covering ground than the Aerospray, honestly. Haven't tried Sploosh yet. I used the Aerospray when I started out, and then the Nzap 85, but finally settled on the Splashomatic as the best ink-layer. I feel like the Aero is wider but shorter range, the Nzap is narrower but longer, and the Splash/Sploosh in the middle. Must be a good balance, because I regularly go 1300+ in turf war with it. For xmas, my wife got me the amiibo 3 pack, and I've been playing through those missions lately. First, I forgot that the single player missions are actually pretty fun, so I've enjoyed going through it again. It's also the first time I've used a charger. By the end of the missions I got the hang of it, but I'm not going to waste my time trying to use it online. The brushes are cool, but I can't get nearly enough ink out of them to do much for a match.
