Lucha Underground Season 2, Episode 1 Last seen as the Emperor Palpatine-ish master of arm-snapping psychopath Pentagon Jr, Vampiro has spent six months in a psychiatric facility attempting to get his psychotic urges under control. Released, he is informed by colleague Matt Striker they have an offer to return to the Underground Fighting Temple once run by Dario Cueto.... and now under new ownership. Mil Muertes - the Mexican embodiment of Death - sits atop his throne, both Lucha Underground Champion and now Ruler of the Temple. His rival and opposite Fenix - the Mexican embodiment of life - bears The Gift of the Gods, a belt forged from ancient Aztec Medallions that gift him a shot at Muertes' title. But first he must get past King Cuerno, the hunter obsessed with tracking Fenix and gaining the prize of his scalp and his belt. Muertes' right-hand woman, Catrina, manages the day to day affairs of the Temple. She and Cuerno have a working arrangement, though he now bears the Gift of the Gods, he will (presumably) not use it and instead act as a barrier/sub-boss to Muertes. Now the prey comes to him instead of having to be hunted.

Reluctant allies Angelico, Ivelisse and Son of Havoc return to the temple to try and regain the Trios Belt they lost at Ultima Lucha. Catrina makes a counter offer, the three of them will fight each other and the winner gets a shot at Mil Muertes and his championship.... TONIGHT! Ivelisse realizes belatedly that her "prize" is more of a trap, but as the baddest bitch in the room she means to fight anyway. But Muertes' teleporting skeleton trio arrive on the scene to drag Angelico and Son of Havoc away. Triumphant, Mil Muertes prepares to destroy Ivelisse when she is saved by former champion Prince Puma. In the ensuing chaos, the psychotic Pentagon Jr returns to strike a vulnerable foe, breaking the arm of Mil Muertes and indicating maybe he isn't quite as invulnerable as believed. Black Lotus, who killed her mentor last season and forced new mentor Dario Cueto to flee his temple with his savage brother in tow, encounters three young men looking for a so-called underground fight club they have heard about. She leads them to Dario Cueto, who is all to happy to fleece some marks of their money before closing the door on them as his brother Matanza strikes. And that was the FIRST episode of season 2 of Lucha Underground, the best television show in wrestling. Jerusalem fucked around with this message at 14:28 on Jan 28, 2016 |
