I liked it!

I thought Dennis's summation on art was actually pretty well put, and if you've ever spent even a little bit of time in a contemporary or artist owned/rented gallery than it's really not hard to believe that people like that girl or Warhol Frank exist. Of course they played it to the extreme but that's just Sunny. It was less believable to me that the gallery owner renter wouldn't have thought Charlie's work was good, but then again paired with the Grieco impersonation it definitely makes it seem much less credible. I'd like to believe that, if regular Charlie went in and talked about his drawings, she would have bought him as a "true" artist.

I personally didn't laugh as much at the Dee and Dennis movie subplot (Dennis waltzes into, what, a movie producer's office? And convinces her to finance a movie based on the pitch we saw? uhm..) but like we were talking about earlier in this thread: Very few episodes contain less than 1 good subplot. So no way this dips into Frank Brother's territory, or anywhere near the bottom 5 for that matter.

e: one funny moment from Dennis and Dee was watching Dennis ask his sister to direct his erotic memoirs. That was beautiful.

Yeah I really don't get the hate, I thought this was probably the best one of this series.

I thought the episode had a couple of funny parts but was by far the weakest ep of the season.

I'd say they're 2-for-4 this year with the opener being solid enough and this one being the worst, and the other two being the kind I'll re-watch multiple times on DVR/Netflix (okay who am I kidding, I rewatch all the episodes, but this one already feels like a clear 'bottom 5' type, sorry to say).

I feel like the trouble with this episode is that it has two great subplots, but totally ignores the hilarious A plot of Dee trying to deny she was in a smut film

Pepe Silvia Browne

Yeah, I think they got away from the smut thing too fast, I wouldn't be surprised to find out they shot a bunch of stuff that didn't end up making the cut because the whole thing felt rushed. That being said, I thought it was pretty funny. I actually really liked the Charlie stuff, the fact that he was doing a Richard Grieco character simply because he was "vibin'" with it, trying to be a cool guy while doing a crayon drawing of eggs. Not enough of Dee's direction, which was the best part.

Dee leaning in to get a better view of the blowjob might be the funniest joke in the episode.

Still I'm unclear on whether Dee was in a smut film or not and I'm rather uncomfortable with the notion of the title card being misleading.

Pretty sure she was just trying to keep her face in the shot.

She's definitely checking out Grieco's bird.

I would have preferred the two plots split into two episodes or one removed. They felt a bit underdeveloped. I'd love to see a whole episode of Dennis & Dee making a movie.

Oh yeah I absolutely loved Cricket going for the Sandor Clegane look, perfect progression for him. I also liked him initially being thrown off by Charlie "...what's he doing? Is he doing a thing? Alright, whatever"

He was my favorite part of it too. The Dennis part of the story was pretty uninteresting to me and the movie Dee showed near the end is by far the worst, least funny video they ever produced on the show. It feels like they are trying way too hard to play up the "Dennis is so hosed up guys" angle. We get it already, it stopped being funny a while ago. All in all, I think it was the worst in a while, but not the worst ever and I wouldn't call it "bad", it just didn't feel very memorable. Nothing really happened.

It's really disappointing that they didn't end the "Dennis and Dee making a movie" subplot by showing their different versions of the same scene.

sometimes I feel left out when I'm like one generation removed from all their nostalgia references like Richard Grieco

I also heavily identify with the dot-com girl who hadn't seen the original Lethal Weapons and maybe it would make more sense if we did

Reading some of the early comments about this episode in the thread, especially the ones that compared it to my personal least-favorite "Frank's Brother," I went into it with trepidation. It wasn't a terrible episode, but I think that its main plot threads were kind of half-baked. Dee being involved in a porno was a hilarious premise that didn't get the treatment that it deserved, and Dennis' erotic memoirs falling apart under scrutiny would have also been pretty funny. By far, the best part was Frank's crazy art collector character and him getting unzipped by the Nazi painting.

Pretty middling episode, but not the worst.

This pretty much sums up my opinion of the episode as well.

I'm inclined to give the show the benefit of the doubt that they still got it after Season 10. Also 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1

I can't see anyone mention the "What do you think Grieco would do?" "He wouldn't eat chalk!" and "You know what, that seaweed's making me a little sick, can I get a chalk break or something like that?"

Edit: I went through most of the episodes of the past seasons and for some reason I always want to own whatever shirt Dennis is wearing.

I love poo poo like this, when the world around The Gang turns out to be just as weird and demented as them. It reminded me of the "I'm the guy who wipes down the loads" guy.

Agreed. I didn't think this was terrible or anything, but definitely one of the weakest episodes in recent memory. There were some brilliant bits and pieces as usual, but having several major plots going on didn't work out at all as none of them felt properly developed.

Yeah, each of the three plots felt like they would have worked better as their own separate episodes instead of cramming them all in together. Nothing really had anytime to breath.

Okay, so I'm rewatching it now, and I don't think that she "fell" for it. Or, more accurately, I don't think she really cared whether or not Frank was actually an eccentric art collector. She sold him the painting AND the air conditioner, and only had to spend a few minutes in a lovely bar in return. It's like Frank says, in this world there are only Dupers and Dupees!
