So I decided to refresh my memory on how White Chain looked before escaping the Thorns, and wow, it is a major difference. That page is particularly good here for having Deliciously on it, who is looking considerably darker and lacking in an inner light, much like White Chain is now. Edit: Also just noticed that White Chain's hand wings are gone there, but I think that's just an art error. Maybe; they seem to retract in the previous page but not disappear entirely.

It's fine if he wants to have his silmarillion, I'd love to read that myself, but K6BD seems like it is meaning to tell more of a Lord of the Rings. Some exposition is fine and maybe even necessary, as are signs that a lot more is going on than what we see and know, but the most important thing is the story of the chief actors.

Yeah, I figured I should have said "The Hobbit". Only thing is that The Hobbit has much smaller stakes than what LOTR and this story are shaping up to be, i.e. overcoming the existential threat of corrupt force(s).

The retroactive page really doesn't give much away. There's nothing in what's said about Angels that would imply White Chain's "death" a few pages later isn't a big deal, for example. Being expelled from Throne could easily be taken as they were physically tossed out, like a bouncer ejecting someone from a bar. None of it really undercuts the shock of later events, and it leaves a lot unsaid. It's the most basic in-universe explanation of Angels and Demons. There's nothing about banishment, about the angelic cycle of rebirth. Nothing about the color ranks of demons, etc. It only seems to give away the farm because we know the broader implications of what White Chain is talking about from later in the comic. I still don't personally care for it, since its relating information that obviously can be figured out from other places in the comic. It's hardly the first exposition heavy passage in the comic though. The only reason I find this one a bit bleh is that the other ones dropped information we wouldn't have known otherwise. A fun thing is that in some Jewish apocrypha, Metatron was a human (Enoch) who ascended to the status of archangel. Probably not true in K6BD, but it would be interesting if so.

It wouldn't surprise me if a lot (or, at least a few) of the Thorn Knights planned to do exactly that, but it's probably not that easy. Since it seems like an angels mindset causes their form to fluctuate accordingly (as with White Chain developing a female form), it's likely that forcibly changing an angels form likewise altars their mindset. So the very act of accepting the new form would itself make them sympathetic to the Thorn Knight's cause.

I might be reaching a bit, but seeing as how White Chain seems to have turned down the sweet new bone suit I get the feeling that an angel has to give up something more in order to fit into one. So I'm thinking they have to cut off their wings (possibly even offering them as a sacrifice in exchange) in order to take possession of the new body, what with the Thorn Knights' lack of wings and Metatron's body being stuffed to overflowing with them. I could see White Chain thinking that's just a step too far since there's no coming back from that and deciding to keep her body as is. I'd really love to see her just take back her old armor and tell Michael to go gently caress himself.
