I envision modding in a special council mission where the old dude tells you that Bradford has found the location of an important asset that needs to be recovered with all haste. XCOM is mobilized to the target location, an alien blacksite hidden under the Sahara desert. You fight your way through a grueling gauntlet of enemies and cool set pieces such as a Muton gladiator arena, a Chrysalid hive nest and a Sectoid gym. As you near the end of the mission Bradford gets visibly upset and more agitated, often commenting on the state of the blacksite and the weird experiments they are performing on human technology. By the end of it you defeat the Codex and claim your prize. A dramatic cutscene reveals a vault secured by two doors, the first unlocked by the specialist and the second one unlocked by the psi-trooper. Inside, illuminated with an eerie blue glow is Bradfords Sweater. Achievement unlocked.

"Unfortunately, I have no further use for the project. Consider it...terminated." A bright flash of energy consumes the scene, your soldiers' health monitors and cameras flashing dead in an instant. Newsfeeds from all over the globe report that the aliens are leaving en masse, retreating from some unknown force. Whatever you unleashed, it looks like it's got no love for either humanity or the aliens... XCOM3

There are so many ways you can do a Delta Green game, like it would be fun to control the Majestic 12 as a faction or the Mi-go and their grey puppets in like a grand strategy type of game as well

A bunch of people have been asking about the book which is still canon I believe so here is the post I made in the last thread with the basics from it: Basic synopsis is that it covers some resistance fighters getting drawn deeper into what is left of xcom and they find information that leads them to the avenger, which sparks the resurgence of xcom once they capture it. The majority of the book tries to give comparisons between life in the cities (cushy people zoos with abductions blamed on insurgents) and living in the wilderness (pretty much fallout). People in cities see ADVENT as loyal and helpful police and people in the wilderness see them as brutal and terrifying. Having domestic animals is banned, there isn't reliable power or water in the settlements and stuff like coffee is a rare commodity. The reason xcom failed: The governments mysteriously pulled funding very early on, and someone leaked the location of the base. Xcom had only just downed their second ufo when it happened. Things seemed to be going Really well up to this point and they were really shocked when funding was pulled Shen: Is alive during the book. He is hiding with his daughter on an old diesel sub that the aliens can't detect as it is so low tech. He is well represented and a bit of a figure of legend to the resistance fighters. He dies at the end of the book after a sectoid mind interrogates him and causes him to have a massive stroke There are hints that members of the proxy earth governments may be supplying his xcom cell with equipment and trade goods. Vahlen: Is also alive in the book, hiding in a secret bunker in Antarctica. She has continued her research in exile but makes a point that she isn't part of the resistance. She tells them she will only sell them her secrets in exchange for more "live subjects". She is also portrayed as a bit of a monster, way too interested in showing off her 'collection' and getting excited at the prospect of fresh thing to cut up. The next block of spoilers in this paragraph might be game spoilers! ADVENT attack her base and she has the whole thing wired to blow. She fakes her death and escapes to an unknown location. The resistance don't hear from her again in the book. Bradford: Bradford is living as a crazy mountain man/hermit and seems to be permanently paranoid that ADVENT have found him. He drinks a lot. At the end of the book he realises that the resistance finally seem to have some momentum so he puts down his bottle, picks up his shotgun and heads out the door to go save the world. Lily: Shens daughter is portrayed as a bit of a super genius autist. She doesn't interact well with people, is only interested in tech to the deteriment of people around her and becomes totally focussed on stuff when she works on it. She does develop a little as the story progresses as her intense focus on getting at ADVENT tech nearly gets her abducted and results in the death of some resistance members which grounds her a little bit. Tygan: Did not appear in this story aside of " we got a guy called tygan to be chief science scientist" at the end ADVENT: They don't speak any human language when they talk to each other. Their weapons and armour self destruct when they die, they look like a cross between human and and sectoid (not the swoletoid) when they have their helmets off. Humans in the cities are heavily encouraged to go to ADVENT clinics to cure any and all diseases and also to get various implants. Humans are mostly given make work to do, rather than real jobs. Aliens: Apart from statues in the cities the aliens almost never appear in public. They abduct thousands of humans every year but it gets blamed on the resistance. ADVENT are their public face entirely. The resistance fighters lose their poo poo when they fight basic sectoid in the latter half of the book. Contagion Zones: I don't think these have been mentioned anywhere outside this book so far. Huge tracts of land are marked as off limits by the aliens. Humans living outside these zones in non alien built cities are tolerated but treated like crap, humans found in the zones are killed on sight. At the start of the book the resistance had the belief that these are for secret alien stuff they don't want people stumbling upon. But the aliens are actually legit scared of them. The squad in the book observe ADVENT burning things in these zones on a couple of occasions, and they make a point to comment that flamethrowers aren't their usual equipment. They encounter weird animals that look like they are covered in glass. The book deliberately doesn't go into much detail about what is going on. It really spooks the squad when they encounter it and they gtfo pretty fast. It is Really weird and seems to spread to everything living like crazy. THE COMMANDER: Is spoken of as a figure of legend, nobody has any idea what happened too him, Shen seems to have a theory but it is never properly discussed. That's all the major info. Anything specific people would like me to go over just ask.

You have to grow a thicker skin in face of criticism, otherwise you'll never get anywhere here. But don't worry about asking questions with your mods. You're going to have to put in the leg work, but you can ask people like cooleye questions for getting around problems you might have and he or someone else like me might have patience to reply and help you get through the hurdle. Or this one, when I bother to explain myself for your benefit yet again. EDIT: Please read this SAclopedia entry. It's short, but ponder what it says please and consider doing this. I lurked for a year or 2, before getting an SA account, and the majority of what I learned on how to post on SA came from that lurking period, with the remainder that is also important coming only after. You don't have to lurk for quite as long as I have (don't take this as an excuse to only lurk for 1 day though!), but I promise you, it'll be for the best, but it does require you to be patient and not post so much without thinking. Weren't stuff like Archons deliberately developed to be visually appealing/non-terrifying to the general populace in order to facilitate occupation? If ADVENT troopers are the only thing the public sees regularly, why would they bother designing propaganda aliens instead of going full Monster Mash? Also Thin Men being allowed to return to their original Viper forms instead of remaining as human-esque infiltrators doesn't mesh with that, either.

Just because they've made some of their troops look less outright alien doesn't necessarily mean they want them parading around I guess. As for thin men, those seem to still be around in some capacity. That capcity is just not something that is likely to put them in combat with XCOM troops now. As for the Vipers, I guess the aliens concluded that their combat effectiveness outweighted their alien appearance. Finished the book last night, and one memorable part of it was the squad's first encounter with chryssalids and and how much it fucks them up.

There is one encounter with a viper in the book and the squad has no idea what it is. It is possible that cells in the cities know more but the perspective character is from the wilds and has really only dealt with ADVENT in his time with the resistance. Edit: the post above makes a good point. The resistance is familiar with the act one enemies of the first game. They short of know what is coming for them at that point.
