They were never against steroids however they were always for pr and whatever benefits come with wellness. Occasionally they will need to prove that they test effectively, and when they do they will do something sneaky like call up David Hart Smith to fail the test and punish accordingly.

Doing taxes in multiple states is bad enough when you're an actual employee, I don't want to imagine the hell it would be as a 1099 contractor.

Vince has never "convinced" any court, he's just said it on paper in every contract his talent signs. Sid sued for worker's comp and never argued that he was actually an employee until he had lost his case after his broken leg, so the appeals court refused to consider the issue, and Raven & co.'s suit was dismissed for being outside the statute of limitations.

Kevin Dunn hates JR, Vince loves to troll him (they once wrote him out of the show without telling him), and the consensus with the people in power is that he's too much of a yesteryear rassling personality, his contributions as far and away better at commentary than any other guy they've had working in the last 20 odd years not withstanding.

JR getting fired for a web event that 3 people watched is entirely just a case of the other shoe dropping.

Vince likes to get rid of old people way before it's necessary. See: getting rid of Howard Finkel despite nobody else ever being able to do "the winner, and NEWWWWWWWWW-" as well as he did. Or him retiring Macho Man.

Jesus! Jesus Christ! Say his name! Jesus! Jesus! Come down now!

It was less that he didn't keep Ric sober and more that he didn't attempt to keep order when Ric was just goin' off. Which is fair. But his role in the organziation was already being marginalized at that point iirc and his last big get for them as a talent scout was Jack Swagger

*e actually wasn't he involved in getting Big E to NXT?

It's not that he didn't stop Flair from getting drunk, he didn't rein him in and at times encouraged him going overboard on a WWE panel. As someone who already wasn't popular with some in the company it was the nail in the coffin. He's not even forever banned they've had some talks since.

His injury was cumulative, his biography is not great as a book, but yes. His Rumble match with Bray Wyatt has been hailed as The Good Bray Wyatt Match.

The PPV main events during that time are a terrible slog after Summerslam due to lovely booking and lovely finishes. Just watch Summerslam 2013, maybe that episode of Raw where Bryan has to do a gaunlet against Swagger, Cesaro, and Ryback, then maybe watch Royal Rumble 2014 and the runup to Wresltemania 30.

Bryan worked a physically intense style that gave him dozens of concussions before he joined WWE. It also really hosed up his neck and arm

He was forced to take time off after finally winning the title at WM30 to deal with the neck and arm issues. He came back around the Royal Rumble. He lasted a few more months without slowing down his style (doing headbutt and unprotected back bumps off a ladder) and received another concussion.

Since then he hasn't been cleared to return to the ring by WWE's doctor because of the concussion and because he can not literally put a number of times he has been concussed in the past.

He's pretty much in late '99 Bret Hart mode where he could probably wrestle again, but a company isn't going to put the man out there to die in the ring, especially after Benoit and all the other CTE events in the news cycle recently.

Is the go home Raw the one where HHH and Steph spend 20 minutes trying to kill Bryan because I thought that was a couple weeks before. Definitely watch that one though.

Somebody once said that Wrestlemania 30 should have been the final episode of WWE, because it couldn't possibly go out on a higher note.

While that's a rather silly thing to say, it does go to show just how loving incredible a show WM30 ended up being (only a few weeks before people had been genuinely saying they might skip Mania entirely because it looked so boring) with the show-length storyline of Bryan's undeniable fight to the top just a fantastic capstone.

30 really is one of the WWE's finest hours. Bryan's story is one of the best moments of fan catharsis the WWE's had and between that, The Shield committing actual murder and Cesaro winning the ARMBAR there was a real sense of change and newness, while the show still gave traditional moments like Wrestling's Protagonist John Cena having a strong feelgood win and the Undertaker losing his streak, which might actually be the single most unexpected thing to happen on a WWE show.

It felt like they were finally arriving at some next-level, new-generation poo poo. ...they didn't, unfortunately, but man, it was an awesome night.

If I remember right, the show also started with Hogan, Austin and Rock in the ring where Austin (I think) said words to the effect of,"It's great we're here, but our time has passed, and it's time to see a new generation of stars take the spotlight", and the show that followed did give a very real sense that this was the way they intended to go. They didn't, but at least for the night it felt that way.
