i feel like anybody who cares enough about fire emblem to buy a fire emblem game will know that they're separate games, tho it would have been nice for nintendo to explain just how they're different and make it clear for the layman that they are different games

As I said earlier; minor experience with FE. I know that the games are different, and I find the Conquest game sounding more appealing to me. Was only a little worried if it was made for the experienced FE-player. However I got lots of experience with tactical games so I don't think I will be thrown off or anything, but I don't want the experience to be ruined by the game mechanics. Anyway, I'll be going for Conquest. Going to be the 'black' (good sheep) in a flock of bad guys.

my favorite thing about fates is that hoshido doesn't have knights or cavs or anything to be a proper tank, so instead they just slapped really defensive growths on a priest and a myrmidon for some reason and told you to have a good time

I do love how the promotional stuff for Fates makes no subtlety on how Hoshido is Good Guys and Nohr is Assholes. Granted, that distinction was always in Fire Emblem, but I think this is the first time where you could fight for rear end in a top hat side. I guess the first part of Radiant Dawn where you fight for Daein with Micaiah's crew counts, but that's after Daein was dethroned from top rear end in a top hat. Do you destroy villages and kill babies in Conquest?

fire emblem: thracia 776 is a cool game, that is fun. i like how well it gets across that leaf is taking on a huge enemy that he has to fight a guerilla war against. weapons are in such short supply that you have to capture people and steal their weapons, there's an entire segment of the game where leaf gets captured and you have to play like 3-4 maps with a bunch of useless chumps because they're the only people that were stupid enough to try and spring him. it's fun. fire emblem is good.
