USA hate the things rich people hate.

Guys, guys, guys, this cartoon gave me a GREAT idea. What if the government did something where they would, like, collect a small amount of each person's earnings every year, then in return used that money to fund things that benefit the citizens, like the schools? And, and, and if these programs ever need more money, the government could just collect a higher percentage of the earnings!

I've noticed that people who hate teachers, by some strange coincidence, always struggle to articulate their thoughts well. It's almost like they're victims of a society that doesn't invest in making teaching an exciting and sought-after profession.

Yep, so many when asked why they hate unions they'll say it's because they make it hard to fire someone, as if that's some sort of bad thing.

When many Americans see union-backed positions with good benefits, good pay, institutional clout, and respect, their first instinct is "lazy union moochers!" in lieu of "wow, my work should have these things for our workers too." It's something very much ingrained in our national psyche these days. The idea of collective anything w/r/t workers' rights sounds to many Americans like you're speaking in Esperanto.

There's a lot of effort invested in the message that the reason your job sucks is because you can't fire the useless guy that takes four weeks to change a light bulb and if you do it you'll get in trouble.

There's an ancient fuckhead at my job who complains about all that a lot. He'll rant at anyone who'll stand close to him long enough about the time he was at our customer's facility and had to wait for someone who was union to get off break so that he could do his thing. There's an irony to it since he was retired for about 6 months before crawling back.

But remember in order to attract top managerial talent you need high salaries. "Everyone else should work for the love of their labor and not worry about compensation. Not me though. If you take a penny out of my salary to pay for anything, even if I benefit from it I will scream like a dying rabbit." is pretty much the ethos of this country.

Nebalebadingdong posted:http://blog.al.com/live/2012/02/would_raising_teacher_pay_go_a.html wow his reasoning is literally "this job sucks so we shouldn't raise the wages for it because then you'll attract people who wouldn't put up with it at the current rates and that's bad for some reason" Y'know, running a private corporation is also a pretty stressful job. Maybe we should cut CEO salaries. That way we'd cut out the people who aren't really called to do it.

We got Cartoon Sign! 1 Sanders lies in wait. Watching. Plotting. 2 I don't think mosquitoes strongly care one way or another so long as the blood gates stay open. 3 The elephant is fine with this. 4 "That one," the rear end said, pointing to the White House. 5 Beeler is a Clinton supporter, I guess. 6 They even got so far as to personalized the Big Bag of Money. I mean, it's a small gesture, but a simple "$$$" just lacks that human touch. 7 Well versed in physiology, the donkey is aware that voting for Sanders is actually voting from the gut. 8 NFL players suddenly becoming interested in country music and demanding that people not tread on them. 9 I see we're giving Rall a run for his money in the worst caricature race.
