Are there any release valve story missions like the alien base from the last game I should know about? Because I can feel the strategic layer spiralling out ot control. I'm building Comms as fast as I can but I'm unsure if it's going to be enough.

Let's talk about poison:

1: looks like poisoned people can poison people who are standing next to them
2: often you're in a poison (or fire) spot, and if you don't move you're not poisoned or not on fire, but as soon as you leave in any direction you get poisoned / catch fire
3: poison seems to last a random amount of turns instead of doing a set amount of damage like in the last game (possibly not the case, just an observation

I just got someone get poisoned by standing next to someone else. That person had just got over being poisoned. As a result I lost 2 squad members when I was going to be just down one in my first blacksite mission, lol. at least my sniper is still alive. Rip in Pieces, high ranking ranger.

Beaglerush would stand a person next to panicked people, in the time I saw him play. Does that help reduce panic? I've read the manual and none of this stuff is mentioned. Just seems annoying :(

i just had a 1 health poisoned lancer run around for 5 turns killing civilians on a terror mission. Poison actually does damage and not just a stat debuff to enemies right?

Fucker lost me the mission. I save scummed that poo poo gently caress him

Poison, acid, and fire do a random amount of damage for a random amount of turns that depends on the element. Poison does the least and also counts as disoriented, acid is in the middle but only does damage if they move, and fire does the most but only works on squishies.

there is a rumour going around that I have found God. I think this is unlikely because I have enough difficulty finding my keys, and there is empirical evidence that they exist
Just realised I can get an instant autopsy once I kill enough dudes of that type. Making me reconsider my research order for future playthroughs since at the start you don't have enough funbucks to really buy anything.

Oooh, just a note, the "Reisistance Kevlar Armor," while really nice for cosmetic options, counts as some sort of special armor for programming purposes and will not automatically upgrade to Predator armor like regular Kevlar will.

Probably similar to how all the DLC starter weapons in Fallout: New Vegas didn't "count" as their respective weapon types for completing challenges (like a machete you got that wouldn't count for machete kills).

I love my exo armors. My soldiers look like the guy from Elysium and now they all have rocket launchers. I was lamenting that Grenadiers didn't have a rocket option before, but now I can give everyone a rocket! Or a flame thrower!

Man... if they retooled basic stuff your soldiers get in these missions I wonder how well they'll slot in MECs when they come in. I mean, besides rocket fists.

Evac two live troops and one unconscious soldier.

Ok, fine.

Even more importantly, and maybe this is just me, but the "make armors available" button on the loadout screen seems to remove the resistance kevlar and replace it with normal kevlar.
To make it worse, when it does this to my troops, it apparently removes their custom appearances until I put the resistance kevlar back on, reverting them to their buzzcut rookie look.

At least I finally figured out what was causing it.

Wait, I thought poison would always just do 1 point of damage unless it's shaken off.

Duration to at least a large degree seems to just be based on a random chance to get rid off the effect that's checked every turn, I've had it stop after two turns, but then I also got my Gunslinger poisoned during Blacksite and he lost 6 health just from that. I almost thought he'd die from it.

I wish the battered EU kevlar armour had more customization options. As it is it's less grief to just play around with the regular kevlar armour pieces.

How are you guys posting so much? Loading screens?

I'm moderately keen on the avatar doom clock, but I could do without. Psi troopers own hardcore. Got domination as one of my first abilities and its made dealing with various unit's super easy. Im a coin flip from happiness when I see Gatekeepers. Similar coin flip makes me happy to see sectopods. I used to open engagements with grenades, now I take control of an Andromedan and use it to face tank shots and ruining cover so my sniper can mop up after ocelot lowers everyone's health into one hit sniper range.

Normally I don't bother because overwatch accuracy is garbage, but I saw a loading screen tip that said overwatch shots are full accuracy.

I just had an assasinate a VIP mission with 12 turns on the timer.

I spent the first 5 setting up. Of course once i engage they call in reinforcements. So with the target down i spent 3 turns trading fire with hostiles before i had to make a run for it.

Managed to shutdown the mech reinforcement that got dropped on the evac zone and take out 2 of the troops.

Had 1 soldier left on the battle field because she just couldnt make it to the evac zone at the end of the turn.

The mech reboots and then sets it self into overwatch right on the pad >< It misses as she runs right past its feet and climbs a rope.

I really dont like the timed missions, not because of the time, but because so far every single mission has a squad waiting for me at the evac zone, or at the point i need to reach.

(totally unrelated, i have a sniper that misses 80+% shots all the time. I also have a support unit that seems to always hit when under 45%.)

Oh and the base defence was pretty awesome once i got the upper hand. Everyone just sitting behind the line in overwatch... Infinite spawns?

If I have Shredder on a grenadier, do Demolition or Suppression apply it?

I'm hoping they both do since they're both extremely good but if only one does that's kind of the only real option to take unfortunately. Armor is too good where I'm at right now.

Suppression would assuming they trigger the overwatch part of it, Demolition doesn't actually target enemies so it obviously wouldn't.

Is there any way to tell how long a hacked robot will stay in your control, or do you just have to sweatily march that MEC into combat and hope it dies before it becomes a problem again?

On a related note, the tooltip for hacking (that little ?) says turrets stay hacked forever, but they don't.

Yeah I set an explosive on a monument in concealment thinking I was offered an opportunity to stealth and got five troopers and some pectoids up the butt as a reward. Concealment is for killing things. Only for killing things.
