Reinstalled to hopefully fix the hanging issue, and now the game can't find any mods, so I can't load my file anymore. Tried subscribing and unsubscribing a few times, no dice. :psyduck:

EDIT: Restarting Steam fixed it. Whew.

My ironman game just permanently broke due to a bug.

a muton grenade cause two of my dudes to fall through the roof, killing one of them. then a sectoid reanimated the dead xcom corpse. Some z-level fuckery means that the zombie is now below the game world, and the game hangs permanently with a ragdoll corpse floppy sound looping.

So ends ironman game1

I had this exact problem, a zombie died and now the floppy sounds of its dead body just play on loop, in a never ending turn. :rip: our ironman save.

Don't play ironman. Game is currently too buggy.

Did you equip a medkit? If you don't have any medkits equipped you only get the Gremlin's one free heal.

A zombie died (due to killing its Sectoid) on my current Infinite Hanging Turn, so that sounds like it's the problem.

Does anyone with some experience altering the game files know if you can just remove the ragdoll effects, or remove bodies showing up at all? I assume removing them graphically won't affect the loot "bodies", anyway.

Got my first squad wipe when I assaulted the black site.

Here were my mistakes:

Giving my only med-kit to a goon rookie. He immediately got stun lanced and knocked unconscious.

Trying to actually carry said goon through the facility because that slowed my sharpshooter down.

Positioning my Grenadier poorly so he could get pulled through a wall and bound. (Not a mistake, but seeing that I had no actual way to save him, I shot those exploding barrels which killed him, the snake, and two mooks. Absolutely heartless, but at the time I still thought I had a slim chance)

My sharpshooter did go down like a boss. He had 8 kills in that mission. One was return fire after a stun lancer missed him. Dude killed a whole wave of reinforcements before being overrun.

I don't know if I am just bad but I've done the Tutorial missions and it honestly feels quite difficult to keep most of your squad alive or in a condition where they're not wounded for weeks. So I keep ending up with like at most 2 squaddies with any rookies dying before I can get a team going. Beyond 'git gud' comments is there anything I can keep in mind or anything to help keep people alive beyond 'stick to full cover/don't get flanked'?

Required by his programming!
The first couple of missions expect you to do a lot with a little so it's less 'git gud' and more 'yeah sorry'. Part of it also very strongly depends on the luck on your pods. I had 4 people tell me that like 60-70% of their alien pods were 2 enemies (such as a Captain and a grunt) for most of the first month, whereas I was surprised that they even came in 2s. I thought 3s were guaranteed.

So, I sold most of my advent trooper corpses because I didn't realize that I needed them to make better armor. How does that even make sense? Anyways, normal advent troopers are barely appearing anymore. Am I just screwed?

Recruit rookies, do overworld quests to recruit rookies, do overworld quests to get resources to hire rookies. Trial by fire, anyone that lives will get promoted and go spend time in the hospital and you will be better able to use them when they get out.

There are two plot skulljackings. To just slam into regular Advent you need to research Skullmining at the proving grounds. It'll pop up as another icon and also give the skull jack +25 tech power.

You can skullmine and skulljack in the same mission. Skullmining just goves intel and insta-kills with 70% hit rate. You only ever get to use skulljacking on an Advent officer and a Codex once.

This is how it works across difficulties and it also applies to armor. You manufacture special things like EXO suits and ammo upgrades individually, but upgrades to basic weapons and armor are done once and then everybody gets them.

And this is why I just restarted my campaign (it was in a hopeless state otherwise), so many of the geoscape mechanics and changes take a while to get used to.

Holyshit. Just did the blacksite. Lost 3 of my good people. Didn't even make it into the base. My ranger panicked while everyone died around her. Then when she came back she killed every single alien and got the loving vial. What the gently caress.
She killed:
1 mech
2 troopers
2 turrets
1 advanced trooper
1 stun trooper
3 sectoids(in 2 turns)

Then after getting the vial I sneaked around them and evaced. She had full health at evac. It was Jane Kelly, the ranger from the tutorial that has been wounded for the past month.

(also got my codex kill on this map)

Is there any reason not to make contact immediately with new areas? It opens up more supplies and whatnot, but I don't want to overexpose myself if it's going to gently caress me - can't seem to tell one way or the other.

I think if they are the last enemy on the map, they will activate.

Also, I made contact with a region with a blacksite, but I don't get the mission to take it down. How in the world do you actually find it?

Look at the toolbar at the bottom center of the map. The icon for the enemy facility should be clickable and let you start the mission.

There's no such thing as overexposing yourself as far as I can tell, purely in terms of whether ADVENT tries to hurt you more. The issue is going to be with getting enough distance with your contacts to reach the next Blacksite because much like satellite uplinks you have a finite number of them and expansion is time consuming.

Does this actually work? Surely if you're losing missions because rookies arn't capable enough you're just going to start getting into an irrecoverable spiral.

Also if you don't do the tutorial, do you miss anything story/rewards wise?

If you want to give yourself more avatar project time you just need to change one number in the defaultgamedata.ini.

The .ini is in the your XCOM2 steam directory (something like \common\XCOM 2\XComGame\Config) Just open it up and search for "DoomMaxValue" then you can edit each difficulty level's maximum number of pips in the Avatar project bar. Default is 12, I bumped mine up to 24.

I literally just did this (I set mine at 18 though because 6 extra pips seemed like it would last quite a while) and was coming here to post it. :hfive:

No, more like 1/10th the sales were on consoles. Somewhere between 100k and 150k the first month. At the time that was reported as a kinda positive thing, because they had very low expectations. But for a game that reviewed as well as it did and sold way more units on PC, that still pretty much says the console audience doesn't care.

Steamspy says over 3 million PC sales for Xcom 1. When you add in DLC and the expansion they probably made 95% of their return from PC.

And I had no idea that sales fell under the category of gameplay.

Now can someone answer my actual question - is there anything in this game you couldn't do with a ps4 controller?
Is there anything in Halo 5 you couldn't do with a mouse and keyboard?
What gameplay reason is there for Bloodborne to be only on PS4?
How much of a dumb sperg is Fulchrum going to be about this issue?

Having a weird thing happen with my timeline, pretty sure it's a bug. I'm scanning a Resistance POI and my supply drop comes, so I wanted to head over and grab that asap to be able to have supplies to build weapons and stuff. At the moment when the supply dropped, I have 2 turns left on my current excavation projects. I fly over to the supply drop, and now I have 4 turns left on the same projects. You shouldn't lose progress on stuff for cancelling out of a scan before finishing it, should you?

Edit: Yeah just double-checked and it added 2 days onto all of my "projects": proving grounds, excavation, and research. That's how many days I spent scanning the Resistance POI before cancelling, so it looks like maybe there's a weird bug there if you cancel in the middle of a scan. I will see if I can get it to do it again.

Edit2: Yep! Was able to reproduce it with another scan point. It looks like if you spend time scanning something but cancel and go somewhere else, all your project progress during that aborted scan period is lost. I don't know if this happens for all scans but it's happening on multiple points.
