there's a mod for fallout: new vegas that changes every individual npc's appearance in the game to match their voices, because the modder was bugged by how some of the white men sounded too black, and the black men sounded too white this resulted in a racial change for the military colonel character who was previously asian, because his voice was too deep

I'm reminded of something I heard about Rogue Legacy. One of the random traits you can get is gay, and it does literally nothing to affect gameplay other than a minor change to the ending if you beat the game with that character. People were complaining about how the trait didn't do anything to change gameplay when that wqs the entire point.

Girl Friend (Note) is fairly similar, and The iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls: Starlight Stage is as well (though the layout in the actual song gameplay differs considerably). i'm pretty sure they're only ever present for, like, a five minute long wind-down segment where all you're really doing is walking around looking at the environment and watching minor world-building and plot events happen while you head over to meet a shady japanese guy who likes james bond movies

i never made it far enough into xenogears to recruit emeralda. i didnt even get billy or whoever the gun dude is. she looks cool tho. and i guess xenosaga's kosmos was kinda maybe based on her a little bit?? idk. i liked the art style in xenosaga 1 better than 2 and liked 1 more than 2 in general but i dont really remember much about it
