Can't imagine a character that can't carry their own weight getting much play in level 5 dungeons, and getting an extra couple thousand out of level 1 dungeons doesn't seem very useful. Seems like Red Hook should focus on tweaking the metagame hamlet and training grinds because this character idea as stated isn't a solution.

If she can get guaranteed positive interactions from curios she's worth all the trouble. Or if she can cause positive Quirk gains (or negative Quirk removals) to affect the whole party or something.

Sounds like a good solution for those people complaining about not being able to do champ runs without max level gear but finding low level runs boring because theyre too easy. Now theyll be harder and youll get more money and heirlooms.

I like this idea of effectively turning a trip into an escort quest where you bring along the nice professor from down the road who is really excited for some real eldritch artifacts. It is weird that they're effectively giving a class a passive effect though.

They've walked back on it a bit as the stream goes on, but are holding to the idea that she's a "liability" over taking basically any other class. There was an idea floated of sacrificing loot for benefits though so it may be an either-or kind of thing where she's only useful if you're willing to give up stuff and if she's not useful you get more stuff. They haven't explained how that would work in the DD where there's not really any loot, but it sounds like they haven't fully nailed down what they're doing anyway.

Nakar posted:Red Hook is doing a stream with some art for the new class. Was the Merchant, but they're calling her the "Antiquarian" now. Apparently not totally nailed down but she's supposed to be "intentionally not balanced" and weak (they described her having weak buffs and the like), but allow for things like better loot rolls, allowing gold to stack higher, or having different interactions with curios. So basically a character that takes up a slot in exchange for better payoffs and contributes very little to combat. I was actually thinking about this character concept the other day and really wanted it in game so glad they're adding it. My idea though was a pampered glory seeking Noble/Prince who's instead getting funding from his rich family to go off on his little adventures. I'm not sure how much support/life span this game will have but with stuff like the Abomination and now the Antiquarian I hope they keep on adding varied classes with unique mechanics. You might have missed the part of the stream where they said they want to add a quicker roguelike mode where they give you a set of dudes and you see how far you can get with what you're given. It was just a quick mention near the beginning, but that could help a lot. The main thing I want right now are different modes like Invisible Inc has, with different paces and challenges to keep things fresh.

Thuryl posted:I've had a lot of good luck with the combination of Arbalest and another healer, but personally I'd put Arbalest in the back and Occultist in the third position. There are a few position-4-specific trinkets that work very well for the Arbalest, and I like having the Occultist's dagger skill available for when I need to do damage to the front lines. I guess one drawback is that Occultist is a fair bit squishier than Arbalest and position 3 tends to take more attacks, but in my experience it's not a huge difference and is counterbalanced by the fact that Arbalest can target position 3 with heals but not 4. This is actually a good tip, thanks.

In my head I always figured the Merchant would utilize provisions in some way, perhaps making them strong/useful in proportion to how well-supplied you are.

Also, does the modified roster hang around, or will it get reset on the next update, and if so, will it wipe any excess characters off forever?

Updates only overwrite files that were changed, so unless they fiddle with the stagecoach your changes will persist through updates. No idea what would happen if it did get changed but I doubt it would actually remove characters.

I'm not a fan of Move Resist in general, because half the time you're getting moved because some other party member got moved into your space, and your move resist doesn't apply there. Move Resist also doesn't help with shuffles like the giant's confusion spores or getting surprised. Captain Invictus posted:When miron sits around the cart, he sits AROUND the cart This made me laugh

Wow, move resist seems a lot less useful than I thought it was. If someone else's lovely move resist can directly affect you, or attacks that move you don't even take resist into account, it seems rather worthless, that sucks good to know before I dropped a cool 22k on it though!

God speed Port. You were one of my first Vestals. You were an invaluable friend and ally in many fights, and the lives you saved are countless. Too bad you didn't resist the Collector's bleed attack like you had done literally five times before. Take solace in knowing that he died like a bitch the very next turn, and if you had only held on then you wouldn't be buried among all the other failures. Despite being the second encounter in, we retreated and still came out with a profit. We could have made more, but somebody had to go ahead and die to bleed damage. Do not despair, because I already replaced you, and we will carry on all the same.Gabriel Pope posted:No idea what would happen if it did get changed but I doubt it would actually remove characters. I've been running with a 50 roster sized stagecoach for a while now. Whenever it updates, the characters remain, you just can't recruit any more for obvious reasons. It's surprisingly accommodating, considering how other games often handle such limits. Radiochromatic fucked around with this message at 18:54 on Feb 11, 2016 |
