I just had a thought-what if the new cinematic Green Lantern was Alan Scott? It makes perfect sense. No GLC baggage, clean break from the last movie, and Scott was inexplicably the Lantern in Kingdom Come.

Question for the collectors in the thread: I picked up a copy of Suicide Squad #1 from 1987 at a flea market a year ago. The book is in pretty good shape as far as I can tell (a few small tears and folds) and I'm curious about its value as I have seen online that its going for pretty decent money. Can anyone here recommend a reputable dealer in the San Francisco Bay Are where I could get my book's value appraised? I'm not sure if I want to sell it or not, I'm mostly just curious.

Instead of just featuring John Stewart, the Green Lantern everyone knows from the cartoon and whom half the audience thought was being whitewashed away by the first movie. Because Geoff Johns loves Hal Jordan and needs the world to love Hal Jordan.

Yes, and Kyle. John Stewart is the only human Green Lantern worse than Hal Jordan.

anyone who thinks John Stewart isn't one of the best characters DC has needs to read Green Lantern Mosaic immediately.

Selling prices will be inflated across the board now because of the movie, but next year you'll be finding it for pocket change just like before.

In all seriousness: I want these proposed Star Wars "interquels" to do well so we can get more "(genre/concept) in (non-standard universe)" out of these endless universes of films. Give me that proposed Sith lord heist film. I want Heat, but with Green Lanterns. Make Spider Man Loves Mary Jane into a series of cute romantic comedies. This seems so goddamn obvious make it happen.

I wish a Green Lantern movie would have EVERYONE: Hal as the cocky alpha male, John as the quiet, introspective badass, Alan as the wise elder statesman, Guy as the wildcard, and Kyle as the wide-eyed rookie. Hell, make it a police procedural, or The Wire in space. Visit alien worlds, learn about their criminal justice systems, balance the effects-heavy space battles with the interpersonal drama, character development, social commentary, and occasional comic relief you'd find on the best cop shows and movies. These cops just happen to work a larger beat and carry the most powerful weapons in the universe.

One thing I've always appreciated about BSS is that we don't talk about how much money a book is worth. A few of us have mentioned getting New Mutants #98 or Amazing Spider-Man #129 for a steal, and I guess we could have some fun talking about the crown jewels of our respective collections, but we rarely discuss value.

The hardcover thread is the "show off your wealth/insanity" thread but since huge piles of comic books and good interior design tend to be at odds the nerd wealth hierarchy tends to be a bit image shy. One day the richest dork will show off their elegant library full of only custom bound comics on handmade teak shelves with ivory inlay and with nary an Ikea Expedit to be seen and the rest of us will look at the stacks of unread Marvel omnibii and non-matching-spine DC Showcase books littering the floor and we shall weep.
