I don't really know where else to post about it here in nmd, so uhhhhhhhhh... I kinda like that new Panic! At the Disco album. It's poppy as hell, and catchy, and the first half is much stronger than the second half, but yeah pretty good.

The first time I heard "Ex's and Oh's" just at the end of December, I misheard "Elle King" as "Ellie Goulding" and I've only just realised my mistake the other day.

Also, I like Ellie Goulding, and I don't think she's untalented, but IMHO calling her "incredibly" talented is a slight stretch.

Foxes is really good, yes. On that topic, IIRC Cher Lloyd mentioned that she's working on something and I can't wait By the way, something weird as gently caress happened and it has had me -ing over the last few days. The official video for Foxes' "Let Go For Tonight" is different from the one I saw two months ago. Same channel, same song yet some shots have been completely removed, reworked or extended. The upload date is the same. I'm absolutely certain it isn't just me since my mother and sister are great fans of her and they noticed it as well when I showed the video to them the other day.

I saw a video of Ellie Goulding performing a Stevie Wonder song with Jools Holland's orchestra ("Signed, Sealed, Delivered", I think) and thought she didn't sound great. Sounded like she had a cold. Ed Sheeran did a pretty decent version of "Master Blaster" on the same show, though. I believe it was the New Year's Hootenanny the year before last.

couple of CRJ tracks leaked, apparently: http://www.bkmag.com/2016/02/04/listen-to-two-new-outtakes-off-carly-rae-jepsens-e%C2%B7mo%C2%B7tion/ they're a little more polished on the production side than the average demos but her vocals seem very unsweetened, which is kind of refreshing

I have a question for anyone who's knowledgeable about charts - for some reason I was recently looking at the list of Billboard number-one dance singles in 1978 (no doubt I was reading the page for one of the albums or artists and found my way there) and I'm a bit confused about why there's some entries that list an album and "all cuts", an example being Instant Replay by Dan Hartman (great album, by the way; as far as awkward-looking white guys playing disco music go, he is definitely one of my favourites). How did that work?

"Uptown Funk" deserves the award it got but I think Kendrick Lamar should have won. The hip-hop albums never quite seem to make it for AOTY. I think there's been some that have won (haven't checked)but certainly fewer than you'd expect for a genre that's had so many acclaimed albums. It's bizarre that Kanye West's albums haven't won yet.

Ed Sheeran isn't totally terrible, but the song that won is. It's one of the most bland, lazy, cliched pop ballads ever recorded.

The Sheeran song is okay, but it's not really award worthy. It's pretty good at what it does, it's just that what it does is boring and played out. It's the Nickelback of pop ballads. edit: also, it's better than see you again so they could have made a worse decision.
