My 920 doesn't vibrate anymore, the camera LEDs work intermittently, and it's been buggier than usual with the important apps (Mail crashes and it refuses to open until a reboot). Gimme something good or at least a stopgap until the 950 becomes a viable option at MWC, Microsoft. I tried an LG G4 for a week and while it isn't without its merits there are some things I just don't like the way Android looks and feels.

I'm pretty sure I got specific notices the d/l is happening on the SD and there didn't seem to be options to make it not do that. Then of course it failed as SD OS install is not supported for WP10 because gently caress you MS. In other news the default podcast app just doesn't launch - the icon/green screen pops up then promply disappears. This has happened only since trying and failing to install WP10 and a couple nukes of the phone back to backup. Anyone else with this problem? Running Denim with an update coming down the aether now. Microsoft Health is also capping itself - flashes the screen with the splash then back into the homescreen. Fresh nuke/erstore this morning, I'm hoping it's something the update is addressing. If anyone is looking for one of those Mozo Lumia 950XL leather cases, I have an extra one. Ordered on Mozo's website then ordered on mobilefun when they claimed to have stock. Mobilefun delivered after two weeks at which point I tried to cancel from mozo. Apparently didn't work because a month and a half later, it arrived straight from finland. http://www.mobilefun.com/55706-mozo-microsoft-lumia-950-xl-wireless-charging-back-cover-cognac.htm I think I paid around 60$ for it but looks like the prices have come down quite a bit. I'll can send it out for $35 shipped. Comes unopened still in original box.

There are a few apps on the store running it and the source is on Github Now that Android APK one you might be thinking of, that seems to still be shelved. Rocking WP10, better than it was 6 months ago, reserving judgement for now. Aside edit: group mussages in WP10 re coming in as single messages with all other recipients stripped - is there a toggle or something to enable group sms? Old messages from backup still contain all group info. Mr Funkface fucked around with this message at 07:16 on Feb 11, 2016 |

Anyone had a chance to test the latest inside build? .107 is apparently a very good step in the right direction. People have been reporting substantial battery life improvement and performance improvements and random reboots are gone for some. I am tempted to jump on the slow ring right now. Islandwood appears to be their focus and that is a good idea, let apple filter out the lovely bloat apps and import the ones that actually function. E: I caved and installed .107 After playing around with it for a little bit, not sure if it's a placebo from reading about others having performance improvements but the phone feels more responsive when navigating menus and edge is definitely faster. Not sure about the battery changes though, I'll know tomorrow. Snakes in a can fucked around with this message at 14:30 on Feb 12, 2016 |

IMO based on the day I've had it installed, battery life seems better on my 950XL. At least it does not kill my battery anytime I'm nearly out of signal somewhere and it's trying to connect (like in, say, the subway). But they still have not fixed the black overlay on the all apps screen disappearing if you enter and then leave an app.

Calling it now, MS has invented their own snapchat competitor called Microsoft Snaps for Windows 10 Mobile Messaging. Also my random reboots appear to be gone with .107, it's a good build so far.

Can anyone try this on their 950, open the camera app and then go to your messages and try and attach a photo from your albums. I cannot do it. I can't select anything and it just backs me out to the messages, I have to close the camera app to be able to attach any pictures.

It's kind of early to be gushing about an update, but I've been on the slow ring 107 update for about a day and a half now. I'm really impressed with it. I haven't had one random restart since the update and all my apps seem to be working way more fluidly. Even the lack of the "wait one moment" message in the camera app was really nice.

So on .107 I've noticed (already stated above) apps and performance feels substantially better, and idle battery drain seams godlike now (when compared to before). I left my phone for 6 hours on around 50% when I came back it had dropped to 48%. On the older software it would have lost like 10%. Not to sure about usage battery change, I've used it for around an hour and a half and I've lost around 15%. Does anyone else compass gently caress up? For some reason my compass is completely borked and does not work. Might have to do a full reset...

So I managed to get hold of a Lumia 1020 (mostly for the camera). But I have seem to have hit a problem installing Windows 10 Mobile (have installed the Windows Insider app, and enrolled myself on the Slow Ring). The phone downloads an update, restarts, and starts to install - but it just ends up with the spinning gears for quite a while without any progress. After I have been waiting for an 1 hour or so, I soft reset the phone, and Windows Update gives me an error 0x80070002. Does anybody have an idea what that means, and how I can get Windows 10 Mobile on the phone? It is at the moment running Windows Phone 8.1 (build 8.10.14226.359).

wookieepelt posted:Isn't there some way you can get text messages on a tablet if your phone is running windows 10? I can't find the setting for that anywhere. As far as I know, no. You can send text messages through your tablet through Cortana, but you can't directly see or reply to texts directly. EDIT: Kidney Stone posted:(Bad W10 update) Maybe use the recovery tool to get it back to a totally fresh build and try upgrading from that? I've upgraded a 1020 to Windows 10, so it should be possible. But that was, like, five or six builds ago.

Sisters M8 for Windows got the .107 update and had all her apps say Pending for what seemed like forever. Decided to back everything up and do a hard reset but man this thing feels like a Pig. Took forever to do the reset, forever to finish installing the initial apps, and everything else seems to just be laggy as hell. Wonder what gives because the M8 is literally the 3rd most powerful Windows Phone out still behind the 950/XL isn't it? Also for whatever reason it didn't seem to make a backup newer than September so I started fresh, and while that seems to be ok, not a single SMS Message from the cloud has downloaded. Anyone else know why or have this sort of issue before? Do I need to do yet another Hard Reset, Restore to 8.1 then back to .107?
|
# ? Feb 17, 2016 02:55 |
|
Don't know what the issue is, but as far as text backup, sometimes it takes a while to load. There's also a drop down in the settings to choose how far back to download messages. Set that to anytime and it should start restoring messages.
