yeah just smash it with a hammer and it comes right off

ERs and EMT crews have a set of vice grips to take them off. set the opening on them to be just larger than the ring and clamp the ring to quickly break it without risking blunt trauma to the hand/finger.

titanium and stainless on the other hand are more of a problem but rings stuck on people's fingers and dicks are common enough that many ambulances and nearly every hospital will have an electric ring cutter.

if it is hole shaped someone is going to try and stick their dick in it. that's just a fact of humanity.

the corollary is that if it is <4" and doesn't have sharp edges someone is going to try shoving it up their butt. I knew an ER radiologist once and she had the best stories about that.

there was an article in the oklahoma gazette once about a rumor that the owners of a local furniture chain like to shove gerbils up their butts (i think there's a rumor like this in every town). basically they said "it's not true, but here's a long list of actual things that were removed from people's butts in oklahoma emergency rooms: " and one of them was a metal toolbox of some insane dimension, like seriously 5x7 or smth

people were batting around the same rumor about richard gere several years later. it's an urban legend that pops up all the time. probably didn't gain as much traction in most places as in okc though, given the puritanical and generally moronic nature of many of its inhabitants

i've been shopping around for a wedding band and it is really funny to see how much jewelry shops mark up tungsten and titanium bands. stuff selling on aliexpress for $2 per unit selling in jewelers for $500. a few shops seem to want to throw in those silicone rings just because "oh you're relatively fit, have these!"

prob gonna go with one of those damascus stainless rings with a simple pattern tho

one one hand this seems pretty modest which is fantastic for a kickstarter

on the other it looks like it might be redundant when i can still play both originals

still happy that it's happening

freespace 2 was considerably better, and they open sourced the engine so there are versions that will actually run on modern PCs. i think there may even be a way to get the fs1 campaign on fs2.

freespace 2 was the game that tie fighter really wanted to be. huge scale battles. a branching campaign. capital ships that actually shoot at each other and fighters. bombers that do something useful.

it was amazing, but the campaign didn't really branch aside from allowing you to do the special ops campaign (and having you do one less mission in each set if you gently caress them up)

the one in the subspace tunnel is FS1. there's a port of the FS1 campaign to the FS2Open engine out there

yea the richard gere put gerbils in his butt rumor made it to denmark in the early 90s, maybe very late 80s.
