Lol at that $1,500 tube amp being used to amplify mp3's. Lol at that $1,500 powerstation that does the exact same thing as a $200 UPS... but can't continue providing power for 5-10 minutes after an outage like a $200 UPS can. GreatGreen fucked around with this message at 03:42 on Feb 25, 2016 |

Not a music thing but my all-time favorite signal processing snake oil thing was this PCIe card with some capacitors on it that claims to reduce noise (for video cards plugged into separate sockets)

Stax stuff is incredible and owns for accurate reproduction (it's what we used for binaural listening trials at the Ford NVH lab). Expensive as gently caress and totally not worth it for basically any consumer use at all, tho.

"These cables provide me with maximum flow for all the bits because of the larger diameter so you don't get data compression or bits flipping from colliding as you would from inferior, skinny cables. At just 1000€/m they really are a bargain, considering they also have audio diamond dust woven into them. You can of course tape more crystals onto them (and I have) but they are just great out of the box."

The dash is usually more "yes this is the price in dollars and the decimal place isn't just too faint to see". I an wear it for years without my back even noticing. I need to swap the terrible stock pick-ups though and I'm getting a string adapter so I can use something other than the 5 different double balled strings that exist. I know the higher end models can accept both types of string and I don't know why that isn't the standard, why the hell did anyone think proprietary strings where a good idea?
|
# ? Feb 25, 2016 21:28 |

The proprietary strings came about originally because of the transtrem system, which required very specific strings. Actually I think the real reason is Ned thought it was better, even though everyone really wants to just use normal strings of their choosing.
