The box right behind the laptop and the little box with the tubes is this thing:

Emmeline II “The Raptor” Headphone Amp $1,175.00
Box on the far right is this:

PS Audio Power Plant Premier

I can't identify that box on the far left. I'm assuming it's $1,500+ and houses the clarifying crystals and holophonic wafers.

"These cables provide me with maximum flow for all the bits because of the larger diameter so you don't get data compression or bits flipping from colliding as you would from inferior, skinny cables. At just 1000€/m they really are a bargain, considering they also have audio diamond dust woven into them. You can of course tape more crystals onto them (and I have) but they are just great out of the box."

Gotta disagree a tiny bit here.

Buying records isn't so much cool because of the sound quality, because the sound quality is worse. I don't care what idiots scream ANALOG because digital is now both high enough in sampling rate and bit depth that human ears can't tell the difference. I'm sorry but if you think you can, you're wrong. Not to mention that most albums nowadays are recorded digitally so the "analogness" of the record is lost anyway.

If anything, records are neat because of the experience of using them. I know that's some serious cork sniffer poo poo but the ritual of picking out the record, carefully handling it, then kinda having to listen to the whole thing is kinda cool if the album is a good one. It plays a weird kind of Ben Franklin Effect trick on your brain that makes you appreciate the music a little bit more than you would an mp3 you click on and forget about as background noise.

Plus the artwork is huge and cool.

records also usually have great cover art and a bunch of poo poo inside if they fold out that you wouldn't normally get with a CD or mp3, so that's also cool to discover

plus you get lyric sheets inside too

The other box is a DAC probably but I can't surmise what kind. I've got an RSA headphone amp (an SR-2.) To be fair, I'm a mastering geek so that's the shallow end.

Oh god, this makes me the enemy doesn't it. That being said, gently caress power plants and crystals and such. Just get a good DAC and a good amp, and if you're using speakers it's the room that matters more than anything else.

Edit: also wow that arby's pedal :stonk:

Those look dope as gently caress and right out of the set of Alien.

Also, got my Steinberger in and I'm loving loving it. I an wear it for years without my back even noticing. I need to swap the terrible stock pick-ups though and I'm getting a string adapter so I can use something other than the 5 different double balled strings that exist. I know the higher end models can accept both types of string and I don't know why that isn't the standard, why the hell did anyone think proprietary strings where a good idea?

muike

The proprietary strings came about originally because of the transtrem system, which required very specific strings.

Actually I think the real reason is Ned thought it was better, even though everyone really wants to just use normal strings of their choosing.

I used to do this, I don't think it made a difference I just found it easier. Cut the balls off though they look dumb on the tuning pegs.

The color coded ball ends of d'addario strings look ridiculous to me any time they are exposed. It drives me nuts.
