This is actually a well-documented problem in women's medical care so how about you deal with confronting new information the mature, intelligent way or go over to imgur and make a meme about what slutwhores women are for not wanting medically unnecessary surgery done without their consent.

(Not in the United States, where "midwife" can mean anything from "I read a book about delivering a baby once" to "I have a Master's in Nursing and specialized training," but rather in a context where midwifery is consistently regulated and integrated into the healthcare system.) I could list a hundred examples, and then you could pick apart each one, and we could go back and forth and have a huge derail, but instead I'll just say that I have, many times, seen medical professionals of all different designations ignore or minimize a "no" in the context of a non-urgent situation with a completely stable patient. It doesn't happen every day, and it doesn't happen to every patient, but it does happen, and it is traumatic when it happens. In other breaking news, racism and homophobia also exist in the hospital system! Go figure.

I can’t see anything under this, there is too much damage. It looks like meat. The way women are treated during childbirth is loving atrocious. Birth rape is a pretty stupid term but "complete disregard for the woman birthing the child" exists and is far too common with medical staff. Even lactation specialists will just walk in and start fondling a woman's tits screeching about breast is best when they're still high off medication. Birth rape is still a stupid loving term though.

A Saucy Bratwurst posted:Thats hosed Define "case." When a disenfranchised group is being hurt by an institution it's hard for the group to establish legitimacy of their claims because what is "legitimate" is defined by people and institutions in opposition to them. If a woman sued for malpractice and won you might call that legitimate, but there are so many obstacles to success down that route, because our society is inclined to take doctors more seriously than women, as this conversation has demonstrated. So people could link you the few indisputably legitimate "cases," but you might say "but there's hardly any, this isn't a problem, this is rare, I knew this was a made-up issue." If the woman loses in court you'll say it doesn't count. If she's unable to even bring it before a judge, due to lack of funds, lack of support, lack of understanding in our society that violation of consent is a type of harm, there's nothing for anyone to show you but that woman's testimony of her own experiences. Your attitude, with your knee-jerk rejection that this could even possibly happen, the way you keep sneering even after Dogfish established her credentials, makes it obvious you'd never listen to a woman say "this happened to me and it was wrong" and believe her, but that's the only evidence a disenfranchised person is likely to have. Attitudes like yours are why this happens. You are the type of person who would do this, and the type of person who wouldn't help someone it was done to. It's you. Problems in society can't always be boiled down to links on the internet. Sometimes you have to swallow your pride and be open to new information all on your own.

"Well your baby is healthy, so-" completely fucks over women in these circumstances. Forced episiotomies, forced cesarean sections, forced chemical intervention, etc. The US has a massive, massive problem with childbirth related assault and doctors get away with it for the reasons Tiny Brontosaurus said and also because the end result of "well your baby is fine" overrides literal medical torture in court. It's easy to "lol home birther morons" but when you look at the absolute horror of the US birthing system it's totally understandable why women make that choice.

gently caress off with that bullshit Brontosaurus. I am absolutely not the type of person to pressure a woman into being sterilised and I'm absolutely not the type of person to say "well the babies healthy" after hearing that the mother got forced into having her tubes cut after birth. Do you even comprehend how terrible you are being here? Your condescending self righteous bullshit is exactly the reason people don't take in new information. Instead of 4 paragraphs of "You are a terrible person and I am better than you", maybe you could actually provide something of substance such as: Tiberius Thyben posted:http://news.nationalpost.com/news/c...have-tubes-tied Horrible Smutbeast posted:Try reading this: http://steampunktoy.tumblr.com/post/127768833823/why-give-the-baby-up-for-adoption-is-not-the It's you. It's good to the point where student doctors don't even get taught about this in course focusing on all the bad poo poo doctors have done, probably because its not an issue here. Sorry I was distrustful of someone quoting an anti-sjw bait article and saying "well actually" without any other information. underage at the vape shop has a new favorite as of 03:27 on Mar 2, 2016 |
