That was badass from Stuyven. Now he goes to work for Fabs in the rest of the classics. Look out.

I loved Boonen screaming obscenities at everyone in the break with him for giving up and not helping him chase Stuyven.

Just watched all of that as I missed the race earlier today. That was a hugely impressive ride by Stuyven and he's just a kid.

I thought he was Stijn Devolder at first but he's probably retired and/or in hiding.

Decent but bit fluffy article about Taylor Phinney's recovery process:
http://velonews.competitor.com/2016/03/news/taylor_phinney_im_stronger_than_i_396983

Yikes:
Euser, who stayed with his friend until help arrived, draws a direct line from that crash to his decision to retire from the sport this past December. “I completely lost it,” says Euser, who claims he was never again able to find the same motivation to train and race. “It was this moment of, ‘I don’t know what I’m doing. I don’t know why you guys are still racing bikes. I don’t know what I just went through.’ From that moment on, it kind of flipped my life — and more so my career — upside down. It started making me ask the more important questions.”

Also:
Phinney had a huge, set-for-life insurance policy that would have paid out if, after his injury, he hadn’t returned to racing...
But he confirms that the policy existed and that, simply by clipping in at Utah — without knowing if he’d even be able to make it to the end of the first stage — he surrendered the payout.

If there's more than one way to do a job, and one of those ways will result in disaster, then he will do it that way.
Wasn't it a moto that crashed him? poo poo is ridiculous.

This is a pretty good break, Monfort Grivko Brookwalter Brambilla Lingdhart (?)

Sounds like the main bunch is almost getting real small but they're still bringing the gap down.

Pretty much. Can't blame Etixx - they rode smart, Fabs was just stronger.

Sagan will be good in a couple of weeks, just give him time (right? please? please win Flanders).

Sagan does a lot of digs at random times and pisses away energy. Etix did that perfectly really, it's just Fabians house.

Sagan wasn't any more active than Fabs today. I think Sagan just isn't in form yet. This is only his 3rd? race in like 2 months. If I'm right (and I hope I am) he's going to be in monster shape come the proper classics.

Agreed though, no one was stopping Fabs. I also haven't seen Fabs look that happy in a while. Good for him.

Honestly I didn't notice Cancellara much during the race and assumed he was hiding/playing possum, probably because I was watching the North London Derby with one eye.

The points race yesterday was a barn burner too. Also, I've raced against two off the four female Americans who won the team pursuit gold. (They kicked my rear end)
