I really feel like Redline needs to have a decent amount of ships surrounding him to block for him etc - if it's just him and a Decimator, chances are he dies horribly before doing... well, anything.

Yeah, Redline isn't a large ship escort, you try to do that and he's just going to feed your opponent a kill. Redline works best as a big, heavy hammer in conjunction with a swarm of 3-4 other ships.

I've had some success with him with two other ships, but with limited tries.

Basically, you have to make him either not the best target, or make it unclear as to what is the best target. If he's sat there being a relatively easy kill, he'll get... relatively easily killed. And he's usually worth a shitton.

I was running VI, ATC, Engine and Title on Vader. RAC was VI, Palpatine, Gunner and Engine.

Never underestimate a large ship with boost moving at PS10. It will dodge arcs. Gunner helped with offense, especially against aces, I'd love to put predator on him to help with the damage output but the high PS is incredibly useful.

I had a friend go 4-1 at store champs using a standard soontir and RAC with Expose, EI, Palpatine and Rebel Captive. You do not want to get close to 4 attack dice with a target lock and the RAC crit. Things just melt at range 1 because it's effectively a phantom with a turret and a guaranteed crit at range 1-2.

Both lists will just melt to TLT though.

A-Wing (24), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Proton Rockets (3), Veteran Instincts (1), Autothrusters (2), Outmaneuver (3)

Tarn Mison (25)
X-Wing (23), R7 Astromech (2), Integrated Astromech (0)

Wild Space Fringer (42)
YT-2400 Freighter (30), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Outrider (5)

Ran this twice actually. I think I am gonna stick with it. I was 1-1 with them. First round was against a mirror match Jake except he had PTL and Chardaan instead of outmanuever and prockets plus 4 talas with homings missiles. Long story short, right when they got to range 3 I stupidly got my fringer on a rock. It survived amazingly, but died next round without getting a shot off. Jake then got swarmed down, but not before capping two talas by his lonesome. Tarn was VIP, lasting way too long, capping two of the other talas then finally getting burned down by Jake.

Second game was against N'dru wiht clusters and lone wolf, a tlt thug, and a kitted to the nines Bossk (Including Greedo). Tarn is still the poo poo. 3 turns r1 shooting from Bossk, no joy for him. His thug landed on a rock right infront of Jake, so prockets did great, and gave him the blinded pilot crit. Tarn finished him off next round. Jake got distracted and chased N'dru around the board plinking off one hitpoint at a time. Finally, Bossk got a r1 shot on my pancake, who had two hull left. Jake got a range 3 shot off, card went face up due to greedo, BLINDED PILOT AGAIN! End result, I won.

So, yeah, as long as I run it better, def my tourney list. I am debating taking outmanuever off except I really liked stripping the greens, and found it easy to do.

The expose build is even more hilarious with Vader crew. 5 dice with a TL, RAC ability, plus a bonus crit melts any ace. You auto lose to most swarms though since there's no engine.

PtL RAC is also exceptional, being able to Isard-push-boost in the combat phase makes it almost impossible for many swarms to focus you down quickly. You can also fly onto a rock, then Isard- boost off of it in the combat step, allowing you to go to weird spots and still fire that turn.

"It's a non-speaking role"
So last night I put together a list from what I have (using as few proxies as possible), as a test for the upcoming tournament, and I played this:

EO Echo (99 points)

“Omega Ace” - 26 Points
Push the Limit (3)
Stealth Device (3)

“Echo” - 39 Points
Fire-Control System (2)
Outmaneuver (3)
Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

“Epsilon Leader” - 22 Points
Stealth Device (3)

Academy Pilot - 12 Points

I got destroyed by a kid (literally, he was like 12) who played dash-horn. He flew pretty well and I misjudged more turns than I usually do and crashed into myself and my opponent a lot (well, besides the few times I did intentionally with my academy). Still, I'm going to try this list again.

It'll be wave 9+ probably. Remember, wave 8 was probably already designed before they started on the movie stuff. The FO and T-70 were added into the wave, but weren't really a part of it.

True, I guess I'm still adjusting from STAW where there's a wave a month and they are all just abyssmally playtested, written, and balanced

Yeeeeah, so I hear. In that podcast interview that was posted a few days back, Alex mentioned that wave 9 is done (edit: fully designed) and waiting to go until 8 hits, and that they're already working on 10. I figure one of those will probably have more Resistance/First Order stuff, unless they have to keep them for movie releases per Disney or something.

That's great to hear. I wonder if they're going to stick with just ships that actually appeared in the movie or if they'll pull a Imperial Raider and create new stuff that fits in the Resistance/First Order era.

Wave 9 predictions:

-Tie/Special Forces
-A Poe Dameron paint job T-70 (maybe this would get saved to go with a big boxed ship)
-Resistance transport
-Kylo Ren's Shuttle
-Maybe a new Millenium Falcon
-Assault Gunboat (hey, a guy can wish)

I'd be surprised if they did a new Falcon on its own; they wouldn't want do release something with such similar descriptions I don't think.

I'd not be at all surprised to see a force awakens heroes pack with a new falcon and a black T70 and a bunch of cards for f/a characters, though. All the named T70 pilots, some scum falcon pilots and rey pilot, a bunch of crew cards, etc.

Hell yeah. I'm gonna model a tarp over it and model a sandy "base" under it. I've been mulling about making "bases" for these ships for a while, including a sunken X-wing on Dagobah. FFG doesn't allow base modification, but that doesn't mean making a smaller base that can be removed with the ship would be disallowed.

I want a TIE Droid from the EU and Rogue Squadron games. Its pilots are just computer modules, cannot get dressed but it's movement dial isn't great, and if it gets hit by an ion, suffer two damage instead of one. Has one shield, two hull, attacks with two, defends with three.

Modules: Dogfighter: at range 1, roll extra attack dice if there is no hull damage
Tactician: when within range two of another TIE Droid, both ships attack with combined dice.
ECM: all secondary weapon attacks against this ship lose one attack die.

There is a dude selling laser cut cherry movement templates, including 1, 2, and 3 length range rulers on eBay for like $25. I had him make me an epic movement template as well. Yeah, stuff like this is pretty common. Lasers are technically very precise but there's a whole host of factors in the process that can lead to variations in the finished product.

My FB feed is full of pics of people's Store Champs 2016 rulers being short by 1-2mm, so it's not isolated to third parties. It's just the reality of the process.

My first test print for my own sets gave me a "range 2" ruler that was exactly 19mm, and that's on top of the 0.25mm I'd added on all sides to account for material loss. I've adjusted and gotten good product out to exact specs, but eventually my stuff will start deviating again. I don't know if I'd be able to keep up the QC if I suddenly had to make hundreds or thousands.

Devlan Mud posted:

Can I ask how much the tray cost? A local group placed an order for a bunch from Germany and it worked out to about $74 per when shipping and customs were taken into account, which to me just seems way out of line with what I'd expect.
