i played flame over so here is the official review: its not very good

-as a fireman you gotta escort people and cats to safety. they have a tendency to get stuck in the terrain and stop following you, or just randomly walk really slowly and stop following. you need to bring them back for more time so its annoying
-you cant shoot your hose or extinguisher and rotate the camera at the same time. other than that it basically controls like a worse feeling binding of isaac and with extremely little enemy variety (FIRE)
-sometimes you can search random pieces of the terrain for loot (quest item, more time, a bit of money, a water bottle or some life). these pieces of terrain aren't marked at all so you end up bumping into everything hoping for an indicator to pop up. sometimes it doesn't react when you mash square so you have to push it a couple of times, annoying in a timer based game
-you earn money and tokens to buy upgrades for your next run. in the run where i earned the most money it somehow forgot the carry over my money but did remember the tokens
-you gotta put out the electricity in every level or electrical fires start. so you bumrush the generator every time to save a lot of time and effort, its very repetitive. practically every room is the same even outside that, the room shape changes but the gameplay does not in the 7 floors i played (around 4/10 of the game judging by level select)
-almost every floor has a woman give you a quest. if you don't do that she doesn't want to be rescued. all 3 types of quests i got involved mashing square on the terrain to look for poo poo (her bag, 5 files, everything in a vault. why is a fireman taking jewels from a vault)

so yeah its crap

I'm not normally into Minecraft or survival-type games, but I tried the Japanese demo for this and it really is a cool game. Not sure how much of it is the Dragon Quest art style and music nostalgia, but I'd almost certainly buy a localized version.

My issue with MineCraft was always that, as nice as the mining and building was, there was no real game around it. Curiosity and creativity can only really carry me so far, so having something like MineCraft with characters to deal with and goals to meet will probably be more engaging to me. I really want this game localized.

It is worth noting that a lot of the previews mention the performance is not so great" on PS4. Hopefully that gets shored up.

Is there a non-zero chance that Dragon Quest 8 might ever be released on PS4 in some form or another (even just a PS2 classic or PS Now game or whatever)?

Sure, Level 5 has had a few of their PS2 games released already, and DQVIII is getting a 3DS release later this year, wouldn't be surprised if they throw it on PSN as well.

I'm already standing in line for the 3DS version, but would be much happier with a PS4 copy on the big screen.

I'm really confused. I thought No Man's Sky had spent its entire development life being advertised and explained as some kind of interstellar exploration sim, not another goddamn alchemy-from-wow simulator.

its been both from the start. the only people surprised about the game are people who havnt paid any attention to it. the people hyped for it are hyped for what its actually promised. namaste

No Man's Sky is showing up as CAN$59.99 on the Canadian PS Store (accessed through PS4), which would be about a $35 savings including taxes. The problem is the link is dead right now. If you want it digital keep F5ing and hopefully you can get in at a discount.

I know it's probably easier just to poo poo out a PS2 classic or whatever, but I'd really love an HD remake in the same vein as, like, Okami. Because that poo poo was beautiful, and I love DQ VIII.

I just played it for the first time last year and it still looks great. I'm ok with just a PS2 release so they can focus on making DQXI excellent

I have a question on PS1 classics

How long should I wait for a PS1 game to be on the Store before I get the Japanese version? Some of the games have been on the Japanese store for years (Rival Schools, Ape Escape) and have yet to appear on here.

If you can play the JP version, get it. Waiting for Classics releases is a losing battle.

There is no reliable answer. PS1 games don't follow much in the way of rhyme or reason.

Rumor has it that some games are stuck due to contract terms with the English voice actors that don't have allowances for digital distribution. That said, a few games did get miraculously released recently, so who knows?

That said, what's 600ish yen really? Just buy the Japanese version. If it gets an English release, mourn the Happy Meal you never ate.

On the moon... they don't make Neo Kobe Pizza.

Rival Schools is likely never to come overseas but after BOF3 PSP getting a US release after 10 years it isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility. Rival Schools was a huge undertaking to get it out in Japan alone and I don't know if Capcom would go to that extent here.
