I'm not really sure how the AWC works with psi ops, but I once rolled Rupture on one of them which was.... not very useful.

And yeah, your soldiers can get scarred if they get wounded, it's pretty cool.

I think it's triggered by getting real hurt instead of specific attacks. I had two soldiers get wrecked by poison in one mission which put them in the state where they have hosed up will until they participate in a mission that goes pefectly. Both ended up with a scar despite not having one before.

Also question about Deep Cover, do you only get the boni from Hunker or do you also suffer the sight penalty like when you use the skill normally?

The fight after the Avenger got downed was pretty fun

I don't think you can get more than one promotion per mission. You could probably level up your whole squad once though.

I think being [gravely?] wounded triggers it. Soldiers definitely pick up scars through their career. Which is so loving cool.

I find saving and immediately loading, or loading from the beginning of the turn and doing it over tends to resolve bugs like that.

It's somewhat dependent on what you pick up, whether mag weapons or predator armor gets the research bonus from black market, etc. Also you can ignore a lot of the non essential autopsies because they eventually become instant so you don't have to waste time on them, but the faceless (mimic beacon) and muton are key.

The game is so much more fun on my second Legend run, this time without save scumming (only reloading for bugs/big misclicks). I'm pretty bad at the activation game, so I generally fight at least two pods at once. Rangers and mimics are essential and awesome!

Speaking of XP, I find it's always grenadiers that level up the slowest for me, because they get so few kills. I use them to open up cover, shred and weaken pods for others to finish off, rip up armor with their cannons, and debuff with special grenades. Between their low accuracy and reliance on grenades I don't really finish off a lot of enemies with them, so they always get left behind. I feel like they, even more than specialists, are the ones that need kill assist XP.
Perception + scope + stock is one option, but not necessary. They catch up super quick once you get prox mines and they aren't exactly useless before that. Two grenadiers with proximity mines and a phantom scout ensure that both grenadiers are soloing whole packs even in legend mode. Last mission I just got six kills with one proximity mine in my current ironman/legend game (scouted overlapping patrols) and the other grenadier's mine netted him 2. That's late game with all the 4-armor shieldbearers and such on the board. My 3rd string grenadier has caught the rest of my A-team in a handful of missions just by intentionally feeding him kills when appropriate. In the early going, though...yeah. They don't get much for kills without stocks to polish off weak stuff.

Usually by the time i research modular weapons (always first) then alien biotec the GTS is nearly done in legendary so there is little point in waiting for two researches to complete before i start building.

There's no limit to how much experience you can gain at once. However, a soldier can only be promoted one rank per mission. If they get enough kills for a second promotion, they will have it applied after their next mission.

Me llamo Sarah Brandolino, the eighth Castilian of this magnificent marriage.
Grenades can also miss but this is likely because of a mod loving with them.

I saw a grenade miss the other day.

Jade downloaded a heavy gunner mod and the AWC threw Reaper Rounds on someone which decreases their accuracy by -15. Turns out it was a global thing so explosives had an 85% chance to hit on anyone stuck with that lovely perk. I dunno how it works but they were the only characters he had missing with them. I don't know how my guy missed with a grenade though.

A stun lancer double-move poked my gunslinger, critting for 14 and putting him into bleed-out. I stabilize him and finish the mission. I got a flawless rating for it. No one wounded, apparently.

Just putting the percent marker on there would be nice; it nearly cost me my best unit because it seemed like a given it could at least break a wooden box. It missed that too. :v:

I've never seen my own grenades miss, but I know enemy grenades can, as I've seen Fuse blow up cover but do no damage to enemies.

Also playing Legendary for the first time with the infantry class is interesting, as I'm now running 1 of each class currently and the lack of grenades is alone a sufficient balance for Light Em Up.

I was looking at a mod earlier, that rather than put the variables in an .ini file or anything, they copied the original variables, and just modified them in code. So PlatedMediumHealth-3 instead of just making a new PlatedMediumHealth in their own .ini file. It also gives 101 armor chance because i'm not sure the guy knows how it works.

A similar thing happened to me once- I actually revived the soldier and healed him back up about 2/3 and was wondering what the wound would look like, was surprised to get flawless. Maybe a bug once the soldier is taken off the board the first time, not tracking bleed out right?

Might be, he was still listed as wounded (but had a grave wound timer).

NuSextoids are loving assholes.

And XCOM2 is weirdly janky, while my rig ran the first game pretty well. Is the game just hella unoptimized or something? I have to sit at the skyranger scene while loading missions for like 3 minutes. And framerate is all over the place.

I am weirdly more okay with the 'retcon' than I expected to be. I thought it would just be ignored, but they seem to be implying that all the fights we went through in the first game was just the Commander unwittingly running computer sims for the aliens this whole time, right?

e: The 'once per mission loot drop' is so much better than weapon fragments, since once it happens I feel free to go all-out with explosives :unsmigghh:
