This whole AMA is hilarious, holy poo poo. So much "we wanted to do this but it's too hard", "we don't have the resources to change this even though we know it's bad", "our first expansion unfortunately messed up X but this wasn't our intention and we're going to do better next time (please buy our expansions!)" and "living story!". I hope they keep making those because the entertainment value is through the roof!

At least they figured out how to put some armor back in which disappeared when the wardrobe was added. But since making new armor is going to be very rare, let's put the sets we do manage to make into raids exclusively, I'm sure this is efficient use of developer resources :laffo:

It just reinforced that fact that HoT was really, really not at all ready for release when they went with it. Working versions of what they put in and new content are all coming the better part of a year behind the expansion itself. I hope they can manage it, I like this game.

More variety would be great but with the effort involved revamping them I can understand how they want to avoid having their game represented by boring maps where skipping huge tracts of encounters and exploiting dumb boss AI is pretty much the accepted method, especially when there's already a relatively better alternative to funnel players through.

Seems that they're more of a novelty now rather than something they want a good chunk of players doing every day.

Players should be under the effects of a permanent Revealed debuff while in dungeons, to ensure they are properly challenged by fighting 3 packs of the same gravelings rather than just 1.

A daily dungeon would be cool. Throw in an extra 60 tokens as the reward and let people choose which wing they want. Make a cheevo for getting X daily dungeons to spur people to start doing them again.

The only thing they need to do to fix dungeons is fix the reward values and remove the full screen "story" popups, or at least put in an option.

They're not fun in the same way that using internet explorer without adblock isn't fun.

And the whole abandonment of old content to work on the expansion thing is one of the primary reasons I never bought the expansion in the first place. The whole super adventure box april fools joke has now turned into a nearly year long joke that doesn't reflect well on the company.

I meant something more like "Daily Sorrow's Embrace", but yeah people are probably going to pick the easiest of the 3/4 anyways.

From a player satisfaction standpoint I know a lot of people want the tokens for armor/collections and that kind of solves the issue without flooding the economy with liquid gold.

Salvation Pass
New information regarding the whereabouts of the missing Pact squad leader has come to light. Follow the trail deeper inside the mysterious bandit complex, but be prepared for anything, as strange creatures and grim discoveries litter your path to the truth. Fight your way to the temple on the hill to uncover the mystery of how it all began.
Form a ten-person raid squad and enter Salvation Pass from the northeast corner of Verdant Brink. Take on epic encounters and demanding challenges of skill in your journey for legendary armor.

General
Removed adrenal mushrooms near waypoints.
Cooldowns now automatically reset for players when they revive after their squad is defeated in an encounter.
Spirit Woods
You Will Join Us: Doubled the warning time of this environmental attack during the second portion of the Spirit Woods event.
Gorseval
Gorseval now properly focuses attacks on the player with the most toughness.
Updated Gorseval’s Ghastly Prison skill to be easier to evade as well as prevent it from hitting gliding players.
Fixed a bug that caused Gorseval to execute its World Eater attack early.
Sabetha
Added a client-side audio cue for players who have been targeted by Sapper Bombs.
Rewards
The achievements for killing bosses in Spirit Vale now award a Box of Raider’s Supplies. Players who previously earned these achievements should get the rewards the next time they enter the map.
Spirit Vale bosses now award ascended armor in a box that allows players to choose the armor type and stats.
Ascended jewelry awarded by Spirit Vale bosses will now be available for purchase from the Priory Scholar vendor for 250 magnetite shards.
The Priory Scholar vendor in Spirit Vale now sells boxes of ascended armor that include the new stat combinations introduced in Heart of Thorns™.
Unwanted raid miniatures can be traded for 40 magnetite shards at the Priory Scholar vendor in Spirit Vale. These do not count against the weekly cap of magnetite shards that can be earned.
Ascended gear awarded from raid bosses will now give magnetite shards when salvaged. These do not count against the weekly cap of magnetite shards that can be earned.
Accessories awarded from Gorseval are no longer unique.
Sabetha’s crucible back items can now be infused in the Mystic Forge.
Energized Loop rings from the Vale Guardian can now be infused and attuned in the Mystic Forge.
World vs. World
Trebuchet: “Fire Rotting Cow” attacks now display a red ring at their impact site where the poison field is active.
Lowlands Keep: Increased the size of the Guild Objective Aura radius to at least slightly extend past all of the walls.
Valley Keep: Increased the size of the Guild Objective Aura radius to at least slightly extend past all of the walls.
Guild
Players can now harvest from resource nodes in the guild hall if they are not representing.
The gramophone decoration now displays the correct size before you place it.
Fixed the collision of the basic pedestal decoration.

BLACK LION TRADING COMPANY GEM STORE
New Items and Promotions
A new Classical Glider is now available in the Upgrades category of the Gem Store for 400 gems.
A new set of Dominator weapon skins is available from the Black Lion Weapons Specialist for 1 Black Lion Claim Ticket for a limited time. Tickets and ticket scraps are available from Black Lion Chests. Keys are available in the Special category of the Gem Store.
Ten new and exclusive hair colors have been added to Total Makeover Kits and Self-Style Hair Kits, which are available in the Services category of the Gem Store.
The March Every Day Sale continues today with the permanent Captain’s Airship Pass available in the Services category today only for 850 gems, a savings of 15%.
Improvements
Captain’s Airship Passes and Royal Terrace Passes can now be used while in a guild hall.
Players may now jump or glide from the “Havoc’s Heir”—safety railings have been removed from the airship.
The Wizard’s Hat headgear skin can now be dyed. Use dye remover to return the hat to its previous color.

The whole point of dailies is to incentivize players to try new things through liquid rewards, and if that's confined to a handful of players chasing dungeon skins what's the point? Everyone running for tokens don't need an incentive anyway.

Not true at all. None of the PvP or gathering dailies are new. Odds are that none of the Vista or World Boss dailies are new for 95% of the player base. Concentrating people into a less populated area of the game is a perfectly reasonable use of a daily.

Maybe "new" was the wrong word, I meant that it encourages people to try something outside their comfort zone. If dundeon dailies offered tokens it wouldn't exactly be enticing to anyone that isn't already dungeoning for the sake of it.

On the whole, encouraging other people to run dungeons in their state right now is counterintuitive because it's already competing with a better form of 5man content. It's not concentrating players as it is spreading them out across content that could be potentially unpleasant.

I (and a lot of others) don't usually have time for that, unfortunately. Have to choose one or the other, so it'd be nice to have 2 viable options.

Are gathering and PvP dailies on the same day counterintuitive? Is getting PvP potions for PvP dailies or wood for wooding dailies preventing people from PvPing or wooding? Are people who have never done fractal level 36 the only ones who will do fractal level 36 when it's the daily?
