As a kid, and admittedly up until only a few years ago: 'I'm on Fire' - Springsteen. Me (kid): '...sometimes, it's like someone's taken night baby edge of your nose, I've six a six inch belly in the middle of my soul...' Then almost the very next line (kid / adult): 'At night I wait with the sheets open wide and a freight train running through the middle of my hea-ohh-ooooh...' I'm a fuckwit. 'Sheets open wide' is still plausible... http://youtu.be/lrpXArn3hII. 2:20. (Not savvy enough to embed)

Ugly In The Morning posted:I was about to correct you and say it's "checks for free", but nope, turns out it actually is "chicks". Huh. I've been told this and refuse to change my mind on what the lyrics are "Checks for free" fits with the message of the song, while rock stars' chicks are actually quite expensive

"Sweet 16" - Feeder. My version: "She's not sad, she's not sad." Actual version: "She's my death, she's my death." I used to hear it on the Gran Tursimo soundtrack when I was seven, and the singer's welsh accent confused me.

My wife earnestly seems physically incapable of actually hearing lyrics. There's a Frank Turner song that goes " And all the things that I believed with all my heart when I was young Are just coasters for beers and clean surfaces for drugs" And she was apparently singing that last line as Sausages for drugs for like 3 years. Enter Sandman is "Extra Light:Endo-might". There's a few more but those are probably the best. My own is the middle bit in Battery clearly says " Play Monopoly, just brings misery "

A double misunderstanding: Sting - Fields of Gold. What I heard as a kid: Many years have passed since sauce hollandaise among the fields of Bali What I was later told the lyrics were: Many years have passed since those solemn days among the fields of Bali What the lyrics actually are: Many years have passed since those summer days among the fields of barley
