well, if v8's aren't allowed then I guess a 5 series would be a good solution. For the love of god though, don't get a big American car unless it has a v8 in it. A v6 mustang is right on the edge of what I'd consider acceptable, but they're a little less exciting to drive than their lighter European and Japanese competitors. gently caress it, buy this: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/edmonton/rare-1993-lada-niva-1600-cabrio-for-sale/1144844920 DrakeriderCa fucked around with this message at 18:19 on Mar 9, 2016 |

I saw that thing pop up in my initial searches, but with only one picture it's hard to figure out. I went looking with a GIS and besides some silly vehicles I worked out that the Lada Niva 1600 Cabrio is essentially the Russian answer to Jeep YJ / TJ - a small, tall 4x4 with a removable cloth top over the back half of the passenger area. That's not the kind of convertible I want, but it is very interesting. It also led me to The Budapest-Bamako Rally, which I'd never heard of before. New Life Goal added.

AB:AI - Where else can I look for 185/70R13 tires? I've checked every tire shop I can think of including Walmart. Cheapest ones I can find are $68/tire. Which isn't bad but still not great.

$68 is probably about as cheap as you're going to get without lucking out at wreckers or something. Oh hey look, it's time to get hosed up the rear end again! Time for the refineries to have Maintenance all at the same time so prices can be up literally 50% in the past month.

yeah $68 is probably going to be the best you can get for 13s. There just simply isn't enough interest in that size. Maybe try finding tires and rims on kijiji that bolt up? If you find some OEM generic crap for $200 that gets it down to $50/tire.

Thanks guys! I might try finding a set of used tires and wheels - but all of the date codes on anything in that size might put it in the same category as what's on the car already. In other news! Those that picked up their shiny and chrome toques might remember me mentioning where I got my work bench ends from. Well, my dad has six more for me. I have been instructed to not take less than a case of Sleeman's Honey Brown for each. Excpet for one since it has a broken caster. Back story: My father works for an air line. These have been end-of-lifed as of today and are to be sent off to be "destroyed". Who wants one?

I'd like one please! I'll take two if there's a spare left over but I don't want to be greedy. So what do you need 13" tires for? A power wheels jeep?

Alrighty, I have two more spoken for (outside of the thread). So that means that officially there's two left. One good one and one with the dead caster. Slung Blade, the 13" tires are for Cool Ranch and Sweet Chili Heat.

Even though I would like one I literally have no idea what I would do with it. I might be able to score a caster for the one that is bad, but you'd need to get me some measurements and there is a good chance it would cost way more than what the whole thing is worth.

We got your absolutely-not-stolen-from-his-employer tires without getting shot McTinkerson. Dude was telling us, in great detail, about how he was just getting over a bout of lead poisoning from cutting up some pallets. We figure it's probably arsenic in the wood preservative or maybe formaldehyde poisoning, but we were too polite to argue the point to the end. Man that was undoubtedly the oldest trailer park I have ever been in, also one of the smallest; those homes looked like they were straight out of the fifties. It was actually pretty cool. The Celica makes a pretty sweet parts runner, we went all over the city today between your tires and trying to find bits we needed for SSSwitch's honda.

1/2 price of the next-cheapest suggests a possibility to me: that the others are sold as pairs (i.e. both front brakes) but the cheapest are for one wheel only. Or, they could be legitimately 1/2 the price for the same overall thing. Crappy Tire is a big enough and long-lived enough company to avoid selling total garbage. They can't run away from a lawsuit if somebody installs brake pads with their brand name all over them and ends up crashing because the pads catastrophically failed. They probably last less than 1/2 as long as the next step up, but they'll probably stop the car as effectively until they wear out.
