dunno if we ever discussed it but kickstarter fan film "star trek: axanar" got a c&d after they started selling axanar branded coffee

they subsequently asked paramount to pick out where they infringed on the star trek ip in the movie

paramount responded with an itemized list

:eyepop:

lmao that's a long list.

i keep reading it and they keep saying WE ARE STAR TREK, THIS IS A STAR TREK MOVIE

all they had to do was not sell stuff and keep saying "this is our love letter to star trek" or something, not keep literally claiming to be the thing they don't have a copyright for

it is important to point out that they had both a kickstarter and an indiegogo, totaling a little over a million dollars

Nope, they have design components including

quote:

A desktop computing system includes a housing having an interior surface that defines a cylindrical volume having longitudinal axis and a computing engine comprising a computational component mounted to a printed circuit board (PCB), the computing engine located within the cylindrical volume and having a generally triangular cross section that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.

it's not really my problem if it violates a patent, they can't sue me for owning it

and i'm not really sure you can patent a cylindrical computer. you can probably patent that heatsink design in the Mac Pro. i thought the MS vs. Apple lawsuit established that you can't patent look and feel?
