Wow, I had completely forgotten about that thing. Woops! I'd be up for finishing it, but if we do a new one then maybe we should try an easier theme

Music invented by black people is basically 100% of music. There could not possibly have been an easier or more encompassing theme.

Finally got a chance to put some new gear to work - not the most challenging musical thing but I'm good with the result. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06Y_X4OyplE The Minilogue syncs up pretty well on its own with modular. And dear lord, the magic of the Eventide H9 for turning any old arpeggio into a wonderful wash of sound. stillvisions fucked around with this message at 18:27 on Mar 13, 2016 |

I think we should finish the old thing just because I'm really happy with the track that I made for it but something else would also be really cool. I still listen to Boner Jams every now and then. I have a college radio show and a few months ago I had someone call in for a track ID for the Snork Repairman track. Boner Jams 2.0? If not that I think we should do something to honor Kieth Emerson.

is the theme still porno music

The theme was never porno music. It was 80s/electro for the first Boner Jamz. Pretty sure snorch was the only one who did a porn music track.

I assume Boner Jamz 2.0 would keep with the 80's theme? Also, I guess someone should make a thread but not me because I'm lazy.

In the spirit of Keith Emerson, BJ 2.0 should probably be 70s as all hell. I'm not making a thread either

You should do a track for it. If all the people who posted roughs in it took a few weeks to finish their tracks (myself included) and if snorch did something for it, it would be ready to go gold.

Trig Discipline posted:Boner Jamz 2: Attack Decay Obtain Release I know this probably belongs in the VST thread but I just bought Audio Realism Bass Line 3 and the sequencer on it is so intuitive and fun to use that I'm probably going to use it on every track I use in the following months. Does acid fit in with the BJ 2.0 theme? I started 2 tracks already that I think have potential, but now they're just turning into acid.

to add some actual content, i recently picked up a power conditioner to run all of my gear, intending to put it on my desk. it turns out it's rack mountable, though, so in order to free up some desk space i also bought a rack mount line mixer and a 2U under desk rack and i'm going run all of my fixed cabling (power, mixer->audio interface, gear->mixer) under the desk instead of on top. it'll probably look pretty slick for about 3 hours until the clutter starts piling up again

Apparently sonicstate are uploading old episodes to youtube and they're cracking me up, so I wanted to share them with my favorite thread https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zpB9IkoiFw From episode 2: "One of Sweden's finest exports; The Nord Lead. Sounds like it should come from Norway, but then again the Swede Lead would just sound ridiculous"

I finally pulled the trigger on starting a modular setup. I went with the TipTop happy ending kit for a case. For modules, I'm starting with the Doepfer A-190-3 USB/Midi interface, the Mutable Instruments Edges, the TipTop BD808, and the Doepfer A-138 Mixer. https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/274304 I'm tempted by some other modules, but I think I need to wait for this all to arrive and see how it feels before I order more. If I struggle with this, I may get a Mother 32 as a way to make sure I have a bit of everything, and then go for more modules. My original planning was more towards some of the recommended starter sets like this: https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/273153 But after reading a lot of guides and watching videos like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0ltu37toDc I realized I should have a bit more of a goal for what I want out of it. I wanted something that wasn't too similar to what I have in non-modular form, and I have been looking for a way to get some chip tune type sounds. Videos of the Edges got me pretty excited about using it as a starting point.

if youre going for a doepfer 138, get the good one https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/273493 srsly the matrix mixer is one of those weird things you very rarely see outside a modular, so go ahead. and youll need mults too, yeah? its probably the module im most looking forward to playing and i wish the mail would just

Anybody using a uScale2? While having a quantizer is nice, I'm more interested in the chords it can generate. The interface seems pretty smart as well - although I read a few posts on Muff's about faulty resisters causing some scaling problems. Also- how tricky is the calibration? Or should the factory setup be ok?

Or should the factory setup be ok? you won't get "chords" out of it, strictly speaking, since a chord technically consists of three or more notes it's good at what it does, though, and the interface (for choosing the scale you want) is pretty intuitive once you set the options the way you want. i haven't needed to touch the calibration since i've had it.
