Speaking of house stuff that would be nice I wish the 2nd upgrade made all the baby furniture optional. gently caress having kids, I want to turn that space into a brewery, or a library, or pretty much anything other than a nursery I'll never use :/

I also wish there was an empty "outbuilding" available that you could upgrade for more floor space; it would make sense and I could stuff it full of kegs and have a proper space to run my boardwalk empire instead of my yard & living room

e: second upgrade. second. I'm super on point today :v:

I'd just like a basement that we can expand like the dungeon. Just add stairwells/an elevator and allow for 10 levels or so.

Sure do. The tier 3 barn is loving enormous, I think you could easily cram like 80 kegs in there.

Actually I think I'll go back to RF4 once I burn out on this one! Unique dialogue is definitely one of RF4's strengths, though. It took ages to run out of new and interesting things which is one of the bigger disappointments I had with Story of Seasons. But actually I'd love to play Stardew on a handheld too if it ever makes it. It's nice having it on the big screen but I find myself switching between controller and mouse or using them both together because neither control scheme is perfect. 3DS joystick with stylus would be pretty similar I think...

I find I'm talking about RF4 a lot in this thread but to be honest it's probably one of my favorite games of all time and I find Stardew to be almost or maybe even just as good, which is the highest compliment I can give really

If you're talking about the marriage dialogue and how your spouse turns into a lifeless husk, he's actually working on that and is going to do unique things for all ten of the candidates.

You also pretty much need your own sizeable tree farm if you want to be able to get enough lumber for all the kegs.

I have like 1k wood from clearing 75% of my farm, wood doesn't seem like much of an issue. When I run out of trees in my farm I'll chop down the trees in the forest and leave the stumps so they regrow.

That's so late in the game that it's pretty much just for kicks, there's nothing else to spend money on at this point. Unless I want to furnish every square of my farm with endless fortune statues.

On a related note I've been revisiting Rune Factory 3 lately (don't have a 3DS to play 4th; too bad it's not on the Vita), and while I appreciate the combat aspect of RF3 more than in Stardew Valley, the farming feels terrible compared to SV's quality of life improvements. I'm half tempted to fire up Harvest Moon: Back to Nature again which I still feel is the best HM game to date, but I'm pretty sure I'd sorely miss the improvements SV has over it.

What I'm saying is that we need SV2.

RatHat posted:

Don't leave the stumps; that actually prevents the trees from regrowing. Chop them down completely and they will regrow fairly soon'ish.

*Edit*
Note to self, Stardew Valley does not abbreviate to SW.

Working with a team is much harder than solo. It is very hard to get even a small number of people to care moderately about their work. Some days I spend half my time explaining for the hundredth time how to write UI code so the edges actually line up instead of being 3 pixels off. Forget getting them to do something actually complex like event flags that don't cause a million bugs. My poor coworker across the hall spent two hours this afternoon explaining to someone why he wasn't allowed to check in code that wouldn't even build.

Managing a team is also a completely different skill set then writing code.

If he does take on a team I'll certainly watch his next game with high hopes though.

I think I've decided to go for Abigail over Penny. While Penny is a pleasant person, likes reading and acts more like an adult Abigail is more fun and attractive, plays the flute :3:, loves rain, hangs around graveyards, doesn't suffer from depression and brings much nicer in-laws (who won't turn their daughter's old room into a brewery or distillery). :smith:

One morning I found one of my cows randomly walking around the area, wondering how the heck it got there I noticed that the fence, which connects to the backside of the barn, had broken down completely in the one square that is hidden by the barn. Since then I have planted a maple tree next to the fence so even if it breaks the path will still be blocked. Herding the cow back was surprisingly easy and I only had to demolish two pieces of fence.
