River City Archery Club The River City Archery Club is a podcast network run out of St. Louis Missouri, focused on supporting podcast endeavors by local creators. You can find all of our shows on their individual websites listed below, or you can find them at http://rivercityarchery.club. OUR SHOWS: The Print 'n Play Cast iTunes | RSS Genre: Board Games Released: Every other Friday Goon: Clockwork Gadget, Somberbrero Description: The Print 'n Play Cast is a podcast that clocks in around an hour per episode, in which Ryan (Clockwork Gadget) and Ian (Somberbrero) take a look at one or two free print-and-play board games -- that is, board games (made generally by independent, amateur developers) where all the files needed to play are available for printing out at home or at an on-demand print shop. The show is a pretty deep dive into analyzing game mechanics and theme/conveyance, taking a critical eye to personal projects of amateur and independent game designers that are often overlooked. Also serves as a review show because, hey, free games! Latest Episode: PNPCAST 011: Roll for the Tournament & MAJESTY: Mobile Armor Jousting Extra Solar Tournament I spent a while trying to figure out a Medieval Times joke for these show notes, but it turns out maybe Medieval Times is already joke enough. Jousting was this episode’s theme, with one of the games being a bit more traditional, and the other focused around giant space mecha and vector mechanics. We played Roll for the Tournament by Joseph Propati and MAJESTY by Jake Staines. Mansplaining iTunes | RSS Genre: TV/Film, Feminism Released: Every other Friday Goon: ridiculous dinosaur (also I produce it, i guess) Description: Are you tired of guys “mansplaining” to you what it means to be a proper woman? Kae and Brittny are re-purposing the term to do the opposite: explain what it means to be a proper man. Mansplaining is a gender-aware explication of hyper-masculinity informed by popular culture. For the first season, Kae and Brittny are examining a familiar source of popular conceptions of manhood: 1980s action movies. Episodes run between 30 to 45 minutes, focusing on one film. Latest Episodes: MANSPLAINING 004: Lethal Weapon We’re getting too old for th– Okay, let’s not run it into the ground. Episode 4 is about mental health, masculinity, and Reagan-era ideals in 1987’s Lethal Weapon. MANSPLAINING 005: First Blood War sucks. Come join us on a friendly romp through the north-Pacific woodlands as we examine mental illness, police militarization, and the Vietnam War in 1982’s First Blood. Questbound and Down iTunes | RSS Genre: Tabletop RPG/Actual Play Released: Every Wednesday Goon: Clockwork Gadget, ridiculous dinosaur, Savahontas, Somberbrero Description: Questbound and Down is an actual play podcast brought to you by the River City Archery Club podcast network. Members of the network play various one-shot and ongoing tabletop games. Currently playing: Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG. Latest Episodes: QUESTBOUND 002: EotE Episode Two Having “successfully” managed “negotiations” with a scrapyard owner, the crew of the Singer finds themselves one astromech and one hyperdrive richer. Unfortunately, the ship is still locked down at the landing bay, and is that an Imperial shuttle in the distance…? QUESTBOUND 003: EotE Episode Three In this episode: lasers, TIE fighters, vomit, space yoga, and a very interesting storage solution for priceless artifacts. QUESTBOUND 004: EotE Episode Four In this episode: The crew of the Singer, having recovered their ship and escaped Mos Shuuta, must now figure out where all that noise and stench is coming from. And what’s that blinking cage icon on the dashboard? The next two weeks will be a break from Star Wars: Edge of the Empire to play a one shot of the horror RPG Dread.
