Video app that supports AC3? Apparently even the old versions of vlc have had ac3 support silently disabled.

My iPad Air 2 constantly tells me i have several apps to update that have been waiting for several days, and if I want to use cellular data to update....on a wifi only iPad. Is there a fix for this other than starting fresh?

Try logging out of the app store at the bottom of the front page first, then back in. This usually clears my weird update issues.

I have a Macbook pro and a two folders with ~1000 photos in it. My aunt has an ipad 2 and she wants all of those photos in her camera roll. If I try to use iTunes to "sync photos" it asks "Are you sure you want to remove existing photos and sync photos from this computer?". I assume that I shouldn't do that since she has a bunch of other photos that she has taken and copied from other people. How do I copy these photos to her ipad? There is no airdrop and I've already tried using dropbox, but it is buggy and doesn't work.

If for some reason they still don't update then I tap one of the bottom icons ten times to clear the cache and that seems to get it to update so far.

How about the bug that Apple introduced in iOS 9 and hasn't patched yet where the Volume Bar doesn't appear if you use a Smart Cover to wake the iPad (until you swipe up from the bottom to access the volume controls, then it's okay until it sleeps again). https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7224014?tstart=0 It was only mildly annoying back in the fall, but I expected them to fix it with their little .1 patches over time and it's still there.

As you've noticed, it's pretty much impossible to copy photos from a pc to the camera roll directly, you'll have to use an app to access them.

Pencil Support and four speakers for portrait/landscape stereo. I have an Air 1 that I use for reading/annotating tons of biology literature PDFs and I've also played extensively with a Pro/Pencil combo. I would highly recommend getting an iPad with Pencil support over one without, it's a huuuuge step up from other, 3rd party styli. If the new 10" iPad ends up being Pencil compatible, I'll probably replace my Air with one.

Also lots more memory and a better processor than the non-Pros. This post may only be accurate for the next 27 hours. E: I know the original question said besides processor, but there's a decent chance that any new smaller iPad Pros may have a clocked-down version of the processor since larger devices usually have larger batteries and are better able to remove heat from the CPU which are big factors in sizing a CPU to a portable device. fordan fucked around with this message at 16:33 on Mar 20, 2016 |

Just bought a 16gb mini 4 since Best Buy had the $100 off sale. This thing is sweet. Kind of want a keyboard case though, any recommendations? Besides that I'm sort of worried about the space. I guess if I just want apps and only stream stuff I should be good but I'll keep the receipt just in case.

I don't know you but I'm constantly filling up my 32gb with straight up PDFs and like 5 games, and maybe a dozen productivity apps. If you ever want to put a movie on the 16gb or a big game for like a plane trip, you're hosed. Like, xcom is 25% of its storage.

I've had two 16gb iPads now, and it's just right for me. I'm not a big music guy, and when I shove a film or tv show on there, I watch it, and then it's gone. I use it mainly for gaming (Hearthstone primarily but plenty more), browsing the web, podcasts, and iBooks which I love. But I only tend to have a handful of games, and if I don't play a game for a few days, I'll remove it. Internet's fast enough nowadays here that the biggest games take 10 minutes to download, so why keep something on the device? Books are small, so they're no problem Then again, I don't use it as a photo holder, as I know many do (there are much better devices for that). I don't use it as a music player, which again many do. And I don't store a bunch of films or video files on there. I'd say if you are hoping to do any of those three things, get a larger size. But otherwise 16gb may well be enough, especially if you're just wanting to browse the web and play the odd game. Funso Banjo fucked around with this message at 09:19 on Mar 21, 2016 |

Even if the upgrade isn't worth the additional cost to you, the mini 4 will still be just as heavily discounted- if not more so. Pre-upgrade announcement fire sales are for suckers who can't wait for post-upgrade announcement fire sales. Fortunately you can return it all the same. And yes, get the 64gb- you'll eat through 16gb in no time. I like to doodle with phone pics, play games, and make music (softsynths, not GarageBand) with my Air and I'm constantly hitting the 32gb wall and it's super frustrating.

"The fun of Apple Events" is just a timed consumerism event designed to spike share prices since the CEO is paid in stock since the "$1 iCEO" wanted to save his compensation from going to federal taxes. Basically it's the most soulless corporate socially regressive thing ever. Enjoy knowing when it's a bad time to buy products instead. I was going to throw down immediately for an iPad Pro Small, but am going to wait and find out if it's so great hands on that it's worth spending $100 and getting half the storage.

I just posted this in the event thread, but I'm disappointed that the event gave us a $100-more baseline iPad model that has less space than I need and a $149 increase over that to get more space than I'll need. It just bumped all the prices up for a "real" iPad even though it's the natural progression from the last model (Air 2). It's this fake-rear end premium that's tacked on because it's called "Pro." Plus, there's no 64gb option, so the 128gb price at $749 is painful to me. I had wanted to upgrade from my Air 1 64gb model and pass it down the line to my mom who deals with using an iPad 2 still, but that price is just looming over me. EDIT: Hahahaha, just checked the price for their magical keyboard for the 10-inch model: $149 are you kidding get the gently caress outta here! It's never good when a site doesn't list the price and instead makes you click a button called "view pricing." JazzFlight fucked around with this message at 20:05 on Mar 21, 2016 |

I'm in the same position of wanting to upgrade from an Air 1 and the last of a 64GB option is making that price spike up to the 128GB model possibly too painful to handle right now.

Am I understanding correctly that the iPad Air 2 is now the same price as the iPad Mini 4 ($399)? Comparing the two, it looks like they're identical except for the Air 2 having a faster CPU and GPU. If the Mini is a smaller, slower device, how does Apple justify keeping the prices the same?
