I hate Pierre, because aside from the scenes suggesting he is a dick to his wife and daughter, the guy also totally hates a lot of presents that the majority of the town likes, making him one picky rear end to befriend

Was sad to realize Penny was not watering my crops. I got married and it rained in 3 days out of the week and I wasn't paying attention and thought she was doing her wifely duties....who do you see about a divorce?

she has a nine-to-five, she don't have time to do your chores for you. you should've married someone with less things to occupy their time with, like leah or haley

Speaking of which, I seem to have figured out what causes the game to misidentify if you have crops or not for your spouse's dialogue: it's whether or not you have an active sprinkler. Merely having one placed doesn't matter, but having it actually water tiles does.

Every dateable character has a scene for every two heart levels. The non-dateable characters are less consistent. That's all I know on the matter, though. Couldn't tell you any specific tough ones to find; usually the hard part is getting their relationships that high.

I am not an egghead. I am well-read.
I hit Spring 1 Year 2 and I swear I had literally eight scenes trigger, one after another. They must have all queued up during winter, and all fired on the first 'nice day'. Every time I switched screens, new scene plays out.

For example, would you be able to get someone's 2-heart scene if they're at 3 hearts? I've got some people at 3 hearts who's scene I haven't gotten yet. I just assumed it's because I haven't found them at the right place and the right time.

You can't permanently miss out on any of the heart scenes, no.

Countblanc posted:

Eh, irl villages are weird, and also really small slices of americana like Stardew represents don't really exist anymore - They're usually really tiny religious/Amish villages or towns with 5,000-10,000 people. 5k people may not sound like a large population but that's still enough people for some diversity, especially when you consider people having even lovely internet connections letting them meet all sorts of people outside their bubble. Also they tend to have lots of chains like fast food and Dollar General and there's a lot of cultural osmosis going on there via advertising/products/etc

e: there's actually a cool documentary which i can't remember the name of that looks at a Stardew-style town in the south and how it's actually full of debauchery and weirdness centered around the local bar (you could call it a "gay bar" but that's really oversimplifying it). diversity exists where you least expect it sometimes

I grew up in a town of 500 people (1000 when the local college was in session :v:) and it was basically Stardew Valley IRL, right down to a single outside business interest coming in and owning the town (and half the population being depressed alcoholics.)

Our version of Jojamart was the lady who owns the American Girl dolls company.

You can technically miss scenes if they fire at the same time in the same zone, which was supposed to be fixed in the latest patch but was very unlikely to be retroactive since they record into your save with no real way for the game to know if you saw it or not. That being said, you can easily check the wiki for the events per character, and then use the thread he made on the stardew valley official forums for editing your saves and removing the events. He made a full list of the event IDs so you can fix anything that might've been skipped.

That being said, there aren't any super hidden, although some require a specific season (mainly not winter), and/or entering a specific zone at a specific time, like Abi's 10 heart.

Also, you will not miss scenes by skipping up on hearts. I jumped from 3 to 6 with shane on his birthday, and triggered his 2 heart almost immediately in the same evening after leaving the bar. I then hit his 4 heart the next afternoon.

I will say pulling Shane's 2 heart on his birthday pretty :smith:, but at least he didn't have to drink alone on his loving birthday.

Yeah I really like all the subtle or not so subtle character details that show it's actually a really kind of hosed up place and everyone is pretty sad. It's fun to idealize in a cute relaxing game but it'd be terrible to actually live there.
