Ya, we have no confirmation that those two are the same person. It could be, but it just as easily could be a different character. And you'd think Max would say something to her if he'd met her before.

No you wouldn't, he's 12, and Day is connected to his old home and memories of his mother, whom he really wants to be not dead or at least some kind of ghost. The only way he'd bring it up is if he felt like kicking himself right in the feelings.

Obviously it isn't her, do all overweight socially awkward African-Americans with similar builds and speech patterns look the same to you people? I mean, wouldn't she recognise Max while being possessed?

Not if she wasn't a spectral before she last saw Max. Even if she was, if the only way she can see is by going all giant-glowing-white-eyed, she likely wouldn't do it when she knows non-spectrals are around, and so may have never actually seen Max.

BravestOfTheLamps posted:Obviously it isn't her, do all overweight socially awkward African-Americans with similar builds and speech patterns look the same to you people? This is what I got confused by, it's clear that she can see mostly fine while in spirit mode/possessed/whatever the term is. Wouldn't she have recognized Max there? Meanwhile, I don't see the 'obvious recognition' that's being talked about - in a comic where things tend towards cartoonish exaggeration, I have a hard time believing Max would be that subtle about recognizing that Someone From His Childhood Is In On This Spectral Bullshit Too

If she was blind as a kid then her being the person in that flashback makes no sense whatsoever

I assumed her going spectral-eyed wasn't her getting the ability to see so much as taking a quick moment to ask her spirit what it sees going on around her. Assuming she wasn't a spectral as a kid, her spirit wouldn't have met Max before. Not that this proves the woman in Max's flashback is Agent Day, that's by no means confirmed, but it'd be interesting if that was the case.

Alternatively, Max was a lot younger in the flashback and that's why she didn't recognize him while (possibly) using spectral vision.

http://www.paranatural.net/comic/chapter-5 So we have at least half the elements of the chapter cover accounted for. Hitball is finally over, and we're finally onto the mannequins and brains bit, and up to 5 insidious infiltrators between Hijack, the vice principal, Max, Forge, and Dimitri. The only things left is the other hand which is either confirmation that Dimitri was a spectral, some weird lighting on Johnny's hand, agent Day having orange spectral energy, or some unforseen fourth possibility. No idea how this is all going to end up in a bar though.

SlothfulCobra posted:The only things left is the other hand which is either confirmation that Dimitri was a spectral, some weird lighting on Johnny's hand, agent Day having orange spectral energy, or some unforseen fourth possibility. It's Dimitri. Johnny will have gray spectral energy (Forge's color is gray) and this panel makes it very clear what Day's energy color is - not to mention the fact that Dimitri was pretty obviously using some kind of power here. Of course, something is obviously hosed up since as far as I can tell, Dimitri has never acknowledged anything supernatural going on around him - he saw that Hijack was a threat, but otherwise Dimitri hasn't really interacted anything remotely spirit related. Whatever it is though, I can pretty much guarantee you it's related to Issac somehow.

Doctopus in singular, according to the Alt text.

Ipso facto. Freakin' Spender.

God he just doesn't stop getting more anime Of course he's in enough pain to make a doctopus go googly eyed and yet just walking around like nothing's wrong. The only way this could be more anime is if he took a break to not very discreetly cough blood into a handkerchief.

Fukken spender. I can't hate the guy. Also haha, the Doctopus was totally gonna bail on Max's busted arm in favor of the nasty burn on Spender's chest. How crazy bad must that burn be for the doctopus to abandon a perfectly good broken arm? Edit: poo poo. Well, everyone in the comic is max anime all the time, 24/7.

Yup. It's Mina Zarei for sure.

So, I'm officially assuming now that Spender's actually creating the glowing text, in the same way that his dramatic glasses shine is real too. Because he's absolutely that kind of dork.
|
# ? Mar 23, 2016 00:46 |
|
If that footprint is still hurting Spender, you'd think his association with Zarei would have taught him the importance of getting spiritual wounds looked after. It's not like he even has anything to hide about what happened. He got injured by a spirit attack, and that happens practically every day. Unless that void opening up in his chest also left some damage, there's absolutely nothing to worry about.
