Scaramouche posted:Yeah I hear that. I'm not sure if your issues will ever be fixed (loading/graphics) but I did find that some of mine were made more... overlookable. Basically the first quest is a relatively boring/bad match for the mechanics (catch hoppers in a turn based game with lvl 1 stats? Greeeeeaaaaat.), and the second is very badly calibrated for anything but the most optimal combat builds, but after that things start to get interesting and you start using the mechanics instead of constantly wrestling with them. I'm mostly enjoying it now.

It's been a long rear end time since I played DoW 1, are there still any good mods for Dark Crusade and maybe even Soul Storm? I remember liking Firestorm over Kronus (except for bugs like invincible obelisks in the Necron stronghold).

Holy cow, Grim Dawn. I just did a side quest in an optional dungeon that had a second optional dungeon within it, that then had a secret dungeon inside of that. Game is crazy good.

For some reason, not one of the people porting or translating Ground Zeroes bothered with changing the button prompts to match the PC version. I couldn't even find a proper in-game menu that would allow me to figure out / redefine all the buttons. Also, I'm consistently terrible about stealth in this game. Not only are my stealth game instincts of "knock out everyone, then explore in peace" apparently counter-productive, but when I do get caught, I can't just kill everyone and go back to exploring, but have to deal with an arcane state of alarm that generates constant enemies until it stops for some reason. Not sure I'm going to bother with Metal Pain.

Instead of knocking everyone out, hold them up and tell them to get down. They'll stay there forever unless someone else finds them or you get into an alert. This strategy does not help with not getting into alerts.

I was fine with the gameplay in Ground Zeroes, but if it helps, in the Phantom Pain you are encouraged to sneak up on people and attach balloons to them, which will remove them from the map entirely

sauer kraut posted:Which of the 4 DoW1 games do you need to install? For singleplayer campaigns only. Dark Crusade and Soulstorm feature a campaign with a strategic map, where you conquer territories to get bonuses. If that sounds like what you want, start with Dark Crusade. Soulstorm's campaign is similar but not quite as good.

sauer kraut posted:Which of the 4 DoW1 games do you need to install? For singleplayer campaigns only. Iirc, none of the campaigns are really worth playing save for Dark Crusade's, it's just cool as heck and drat near infinitely replayable since you can play as any race in it. But, I haven't touched vanilla DoW or Winter Assault in years so I can't say for certain. I do know that Soulstorm is pretty much worthless, the new races are crap and the new units are mega crap.

Mr.Unique-Name posted:Assuming this isn't a troll what makes you think that something that takes advantage of the fact your eyes see two different images to create the illusion of depth would work when one of your eyes is incapable of seeing images? Sadly it isnt a troll, I just was thinking that with talking about NON VR games that you bvasically just get a closer experience than sitting in front of a computer or TV but maybe that isn't true .here Well I talked with the doctor because I really was excited that maybe with the advent of VR and being "inside of the world" in the VR headset with the headset arond you that the eyes and brain might think you are in a world like most people would see. I think the problem I am having is that I learned to live with no depth perception and that when I see videos of what 3D is you have 2 images, would that just look like two images for one of my eyes or would I feel like I am in a world? Someone somewhere said that that "you would still get the experience of being inside of the space" but with 2 images, wouldn't it just not make any sense to my brain and be 2 images on a monitor in front of me? I was hoping that maybe if I got a surgery for that eye with LASIK I would get to see 3D but I don't think lasik or anything can give me eyesight back in an eye that has never had eye sight. I have about 20% of blurry vision but it is nothing to write home about, I can't have any depth perception and ran into the house but it was a real tight driveway and one year I got stuck in the driveway and started to cry because i was coming down from an ecstasy I didnt sleep that night I was at a rave but leaving the house stuck couldnt make it had to have a friend get me out after I crawled out of the sun roof.

Thanks for the kind DoW1 answers. And yeah that's a huge blow to the old backlog. I juust managed to install some Total War games from the December bundle and get some cards out of them

If you don't have any 3D vision to begin with then VR is actually even more convincing because you can't tell when it's not working properly.

sauer kraut posted:Which of the 4 DoW1 games do you need to install? For singleplayer campaigns only. Dark Crusade is what you want. It's a Risk-esque campaign where you choose a race and try to wipe out all the other armies. DoW and Winter Assault are more your traditional StarCraft linear campaigns and I never touched Soulstorm because I heard that it was garbage, even if you like the Dark Eldar.

Pacing, atmosphere, effort put into story (D3 story hater here), and art style are different. Grim Dawn will eventually be modifiable, assuming they put out those modding tools, but for now trainers can be used with it to customize your characters how you want which I did around level 61. No online servers. You connect to peers.

Deakul posted:I do know that Soulstorm is pretty much worthless this is wrong and I learned last time this came up that the reason this sentiment comes up so often is because Soulstorm had a lot problems on release that were later fixed. if youre just playing single player campaign mode its just as good if not better than Dark Crusade. the new AIR units definitely are bad though. the apocalypse mod that gets mentioned also has the option to remove them all together. I just noticed that SEGA bundle has Eastside Hockey Manager. Its basically Football Manager, but hockey, obviously. It is not as advanced, lacking a 3d match engine, a lot of the player interactivity, press conferences and what not. From what I've heard it is similar in complexity to the "Classic" mode of more recent Football Managers. It is not bad if you're into this kinda stuff. I'm extremely new to *Manager style games and not exactly a big hockey fan/expert, but I've had some fun playing it off and on the last couple months. So if you pick the bundle up and like hockey and/or football manager, maybe give it a try!

Jordan7hm posted:If you're buying the BTA tier in the new Sega bundle, take some time and try out Eastside Hockey Manager. It is by far the best hockey management simulation game out there, a remastering of EHM 07 (which was the best hockey sim until this came out). How does it compare to the new Franchise Hockey Manager? I played and liked EHM '07 when it first came out, but the new EHM really looks like little more than a data update with some league issues fixed. FHM 2 has a more hands-off approach, which you might dislike if you're into tactics more than anything, but the rest of the stuff feels much more polished and engaging to me.

So what's the thing to play Titan Quest with? I don't mean Underlord, someone mentioned a different combo a while back but I can't find it, the only thing I got from it was a link to download TQ Defiler. Also, why in the hell does IT require me to install and run the vanilla game once just so it can add a registry entry.

All you really need to start is the X-MAX mod, which severely ups the monster density to funtime levels.
