It seems like it should work, at least once you fix the script src, but it doesn't. When I comment out loading the local copy, it goes back to just getting the text. Which isn't ideal, because every time Twitter changes the script it could break us, and pokeyman will have to go through approval again to get it working.

iPhone is basically Windows 98 these days; you have to reboot regularly or things stop working.

And I will add it again to the list! carry on then posted:Guess I assumed it would be smarter than that... You have this turned on: so the emoticon URLs are getting rewritten from http to https, and the app isn't handling that properly. That should be a pretty simple fix. I'll take a look at it within the next few days if nobody beats me to it.

Nah, it happens to me even without experimental features enabled. It looks like what's actually happening is that Awful doesn't think emoticons can come from i.somethingawful.com/u/adminuploads/smileys/ or i.somethingawful.com/u/garbageday/2014/. I'll add rules for those two; do we know of any other emoticon locations like that? e: after grepping the hell out of the smilies page, these are the possible locations for the current emoticons: code:

Turns out the switch to turn images off doesn't do anything until you refresh the page, which is why I couldn't reproduce the error with experimental features turned off.

Dumb feature idea that would appeal to me a lot: Light/dark mode on a schedule, so it can go to dark mode at night and white mode during the day without having to manually switch it.

Still want Awful for Mac. It should be possible to tease apart any UIKit dependencies in non-UI code pretty easily, when I looked a couple years ago the only one I found was triggering the network spinner. The use of CocoaPods seems to make it harder to just start trying to build everything for Mac though. (I'm not really allowed to do the work myself and contribute it back, all I can do is provide guidance.)

I've started getting '403(Forbidden) Code -1011' in the app about a day ago. Granted, I'm currently in Singapore and whenever the forum images aren't loading on my computer I'd head to fi.somethingawful.com and prove that I'm a human. Is there a way I could do this while inside the app? I tried going to the verification page through mobile safari but it doesn't seem to have any effect on the app. In the meantime, I'm just browsing SA in mobile safari which is not as good an experience as the Awful app.
