I know a bunch of friends who went to SIU and I also considered it but ended up picking NIU. It has a reputation as a party school (nothing wrong with that IMO). Sad to hear Rauner's shittiness is affecting them now.

Yeah, we drink ourselves blind Friday and Saturday night, but that's because we spent Sunday through Thursday studying." Admittedly, there are some people who can't handle that and just live at lovely bars until they get put on academic suspension, but you get that at any school.
