If I ever employ one of the crooked doctors, I'mma picture him as Kevin Nash in the Paparazzi Productions backstage sketch where he gave Rorschach tests to all the X-Division guys.

OK, UFC 2: I sorta-get the ground game now, but can someone explain to me why literally every single person I play online seems to have better handspeed than me, no matter who I pick? It's, like, I can throw the quickest jab in the world and they'll catch me with a haymaker before it connects. (there's also a bit of an input queuing issue I think too, as I've hit block and instead thrown a kick a LOT)

When you assign a punching move it boosts your punch stats too, on top of just giving you a new move. What I've gotten in the habit of doing is moving my good universal moves from fighter to fighter

If I don't block, I get rocked while doing minuscule damage to them, but if I do, I can't get a hit in, and counter-punching seems really difficult to do without them catching on after 2-3 solid strikes. TNA gets a lot of poo poo, but I've said it before and I'll say it again that Nash's non-match* interactions with the X-Division were legitimately funny. *The exception being when he and Shelley used a scaffold to scout Sabin during a match. There's something about a match going on and in the background you can just see Nash and Shelley rising up that is really amusing to me .

Playing against real people is very different than the AI. Most people just want to stand and bang anyway, so I wouldn't worry too much about not being able to handle grappling.

When you wait and defend first it's much easier to either pass or pound them out.

I can handle grappling enough that I can basically get out of any bad situation off my back and like to threaten subs to freak guys out, but from the top I don't really bother with too much because my top skill isn't too high right now. If you're a striker get to the thai clinch as often as possible 70% of people don't know what to do and get knocked down by knees. Also clinch up as soon as you wobble the guys that just cover up immediately, you'll win almost every time.

I made one of my UT guys a submission specialist, he's fun to play as. Having tons of options on the ground really opens things up when you're playing against one of the 10000 boxers people create. I have this transition from kimura -> armbar that is sick, I've tapped out a ton of people with it.

Most people, when you take them down, will panic and constantly try to do 'get up' transitions, so if you're patient and block transitions before starting to attack, you can make them blow all their stamina almost immediately. It's great. Also, back side is a great position to GNP from. It's really obvious when they're trying to transition out and you can just punch them in the head every time to stop it, plus you can get a TKO from there. I learned it from watching this guy's video, he does a really good job shutting down people's ground defense.

Generally I wait for someone to attack, dodge or block and THEN drop them with punches or kicks.

May have been lag, may just have been me being bad/tired. Just won a few and did much better striking. Beat GSP as Hendo and Holly as Ashlee Evans-Smith, the former with ground 'n' pound after kicking his leg out while he tried a spinning roundhouse, and the latter just in a straight slugfest. Granted, the Holly player seemed pretty bad, as she mostly went for headshots and didn't block at all even when i was postured up on the floor.

What are the odds of this UFC game getting a pc port? I've been watching NewLegacy's videos with it and I'm getting kind of interested in checking it out. I don't have a current gen system so just wondering what the possibilities of it are.

EA Sports's signature titles don't tend to come to PC for some reason, FIFA excepted.

It'd be sick to get UFC 2 at 60fps, but that's a pipedream for sure. FIFA is FIFA so it's on a whole different level from American sports as a whole. MMA/Boxing isn't technically US sports I guess, but everything revolves around the US scene and all that so they basically are.

Dang. A part of me hoped that maybe it'd have a chance since the last two WWE games got on but I spose that's 2K not EA which has their own dumb non-steam thing. Oh well, I'll just live vicariously through dumb replays, I'm cool with that~

Yeah, during a prerelease fan Q&A their community manager said a PC port was never going to happen, unfortunately. Every time I see TEW news the part of me that obsessed over EWR back in the day feels like it could wake up and I have to beat it to death.

Yeah, Ryland said early on that his main focuses on this version was to make the backstage game much fuller and true to life and to try and make the AI smarter so the world around you is more dynamic. The other changes seem to have largely been the usual tweaks to gameplay and big changes to address how the business has changed since 2013 (NXT-like developmentals; WWE Network-like streaming services). We're definitely at the "Ok, I'm hyped! Sell the game!" stage. He was saying an early April date might happen and the journal would go through March so fingers crossed its just a couple of weeks away.
