This is a longshot but this album randomly popped into my head and now I am getting obsessed over it, yet can find no proof it actually existed It had incredibly long, goofy track names but I cannot remember any of them exactly, for example "beneath the ice caverns of [something], danger awaits' or 'ascending the spire to encounter the wizard' It's instrumental, the narrative was solely through track titles. I can remember almost nothing about the music, I think it was predominantly synth/electronic based. Definitely not metal or orchestral, despite the fantasy-ish track titles I found it via these very forums ~2001-2003. Given how long I've been looking with no traces, it may have been a goon-made thing or not fully released.

I woke up with this song in my head and I think it's from a commercial or something. I believe two of the lyrics are "No, we can't stop" and "nothing could ever bring us dooooooown" with down really drawn out... Sound familiar to anyone? edit: found it, it's a song made just for a drat Coke commercial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AmKP9VE2Ms Nolan Arenado fucked around with this message at 03:25 on Mar 15, 2016 |

Here's a shot in the dark for you: when I was a little kid I listened to a song which I think had a passing train as its theme. It started with a kind of train whistle and the sound of a train going over rails, I had it on one of those single LP's. I vaguely remember it was something like new wave or industrial, this was in 1988 or something after all. I have no idea what this song was called or who it was by. Since it was on a single LP it was probably from the early 80s at the latest. There were no lyrics as I recall. Another one: around the same time I listened to what I think was a mixtape on my walkman. There was an industrial song on there with a beat that went DUN DUN DUN ZEEEE DUN DUN DUN ZEEEE DUN DUN DUN ZEEEE, I think the ZEEEE part was made up of distorted vocals somehow. I think the lyrics mentioned, unsurprisingly, a factory and working there. Again, no idea. I think it shared that mixtape with a bunch of Dire Straits songs and maybe David Bowie. I didn't speak English at the time so the only thing I remember was the part about a factory. Shibawanko fucked around with this message at 02:24 on Mar 15, 2016 |

The train one might be Trans Eurpoa Express by Kraftwerk, there's no actual train sound but the beat mimics it. It's from the 70s. It's got lyrics but they wrote a couple noise songs that had the same beat that tied in. The song autobahn has a synth "horn" too but I think that was a different album, check em out and see if it's familiar.

taking a shot in the dark here with a song i didn't personally hear, but a friend of mine is desperate to figure out and track down. he heard it at the leaether strip show in tampa florida on the 11th, and during the soundcheck, and once at a local goth club. says it reminded him of snog, a LOT but with a bit of a more modern sheen to it. in the chorus of the song, it had the line "where are the new drugs, where are the new (something)" THAT IS ALL I HAVE!! i did a bit of googling, and poking around for him, myself to no avail. EDIT: i found it, myself: "dead when i found her - new drugs" (it's not very good, at all) Gomi Day fucked around with this message at 05:48 on Mar 15, 2016 |

Its a folky singer-songwriter song if that helps. I swear the album cover had a tree on it or something. EDIT: Found it. Since I can't find this other one, i might as well try: Song with heavy Vocoder vocals. Not a rap song, melodic. I swear it has the lyrics "Act a fool" in it at some point. It was on my spotify discovery weekly a couple of weeks ago and I never got around to saving it. So naturally it's been stuck in my head. EDIT: Reddit user helped me find it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5MDxiPda2k iSheep fucked around with this message at 22:07 on Mar 16, 2016 |

Here is a long shot. A band with a white(I think) female singer with a deeper voice. Alternative from like the late 80's early 90's maybe?. Sounds sorta like Concrete Blonde but with a less smokey voice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdpTcvSn8HQ I had trouble making any lyrics and forgot those I did but I think the Chorus had a very long Ooooh and then a shorter ooooh and then some other lyrics which I couldn't catch. I walked into a store as it was ending and asked the staff but they were clueless. I know I have heard it at least once before. I know I am doing a terrible job describing this song and I apologize, but this song is stuck in my head now and I can't even sing along with it since I don't know the words.

I really can't describe what kind of music it was, but something more like industrial.

It seemed Grungier. The singer seemed more "consistent" in her tone. It was a repeating chorus of Oooooooh, Ooh *words I couldn't pick up*. Thanks for your guess! Abugadu posted:Major or minor key? As deep as Courtney Love but less smokey/growley. I am not musically inclined enough to know what key it is in. The first Oooooh seemed pretty consistent and the second oooh was slightly higher and the last phrase was deeper and a very short phrase like 5-9 syllables. It was pretty much repeated 3 times without much change as the song ended.I strained like hell to make out the words, alas it was a noisy comic shop. Again, sorry for the vagueness. Good news though, I am finding tons of other artists and songs that I enjoy with your suggestions and my search. I don't think this song is as popular or well known as most of the suggestions so far.

Can you check out a few of the sonic youth songs that Kim Gordon sings on and see if the voice is close? They have a huge catalog but if it's familiar I could prob narrow it down. Sounds kind of like what you're saying, but try a few cause she switches between screaming/growling/nice smokey singing.

This has been driving me a bit spare for a few months now, if anyone can help me, I would be so grateful. It would likely have been in late 80s-90s, a college radio type song, indie postrock sort of thing, thin metallic sounding guitar (as in the element/thing not the genre), just a few chords, I believe it was called 'The Other Side' but I have no idea of the artist and I haven't been able to find it. The chorus ended with exactly that, 'on the other siiiiideeeee' and wow I can't think of anything else that could help, sorry. If anyone knows of this song, I have big respect. It was from a mixtape that a college radio DJ friend made for me at the time, other such songs on these tapes were stuff like Residents - Smelly Tongues, and also more similar to era and sound of the song I'm looking for, Phantom Tollbooth - Whiteout, Membranes - Thank Heavens for the Iron Horse. I already checked if it was Phantom Tollbooth and doesn't appear so, at least they don't have it on their soundcloud archive but the guitar sounds were very similar (but many were at the time). Cheers!
