But yeah, if the Rogues as an organization/club aren't forthcoming (and we are thus doomed to a new speedster villain every season), then Hartley is much better suited to be a Flash Friend than a solo act. I hope he turns out to be a socialist.

Holy crap this was probably the best episode of the season. I'm really glad that this aired this week because the people tuning in from Supergirl get to see a not-poo poo episode.

"So I can't talk to them because they're dead, so I read their old journals." "Of course... It's not like Thawne had anything like a journal around that we've all somehow forgotten about. Guess that leaves time travel!"

Are Time Wraiths at all in some way from any of the comics involving speedsters? (It did sorta of look like it was wearing a decayed Flash-style mask.)

Also I will never get tired of Barry loving with the timestream, especially if it leads to more Wells-Thawne background reactions.

It vaguely looked like the Black Flash at times but never behaved anything like it does in the books.

CW Barry is incredibly dumb, yet still much smarter than comics Barry, who basically destroyed the DC universe. People should cut the show writers some slack, because they are trying so hard to get Barry to that level of stupidity, but it takes some time. Current estimate: S03E17.

The writers are actually doing a pretty good job this season, if their goal is to finally make the viewers understand and sympathise with Thawne's motivation and efforts to destroy the menace that is Barry.

The Wrath of Kahn stuff, Caitlin's hurried denial of the tranq dart, RF Wells badly wanting them all to Shut The gently caress Up, etc. I miss the cast getting to be that funny and angst-free. The change with Hartley was cute too. VagueRant fucked around with this message at 10:54 on Mar 30, 2016 |

In the Supergirl crossover, there's a bit where Kara is lamenting how she failed her city and how they hate and fear her, and Barry says, "Don't worry - I've been there." When did that happen to Barry? I've forgotten.

But they gave him a key to the city when he did that! Maybe it's the whole "Iris's new editor hates and fears the Flash" angle that didn't / hasn't really gone anywhere, except the writers think that was a big impactful thing the Flash had to deal with, like Jay apparently being this great mentor to Barry. What I find funny about this is that the audience just generally goes along with the fact that the people they've been following throughout the show have been wiped from existence and replaced by similar people, I guess because the characters never bring it up. I guess it's to be expected when the timeline can be changed, but it would nice for someone in the show to complain about it. Something from Cisco like... "Well wait Barry, if you change the past what happens to us?... You'll come back and find another Cisco, what about this timeline me? I like existing..."

So I guess not really the same as Supergirl's case, but close enough in Barry's head.

computer parts posted:They did bring it up in this episode and it was resolved with "if nothing changes then everyone's going to cease to exist anyway". Yeah, I just find it funny how some shows and movies treat timeline changes fairly flippantly. You never really see much concern from the characters after reality has been reshaped unless it's some catastrophic new alternate reality.

When Barry was considering wiping them all out (along with all of humanity) to save his mom they gave him their blessing and acted like what he was doing was noble. They're used to it by now and if they'll condone it for that he doesn't really need their permission for yet more dimensional fuckery frankly.
