I hope the tengu are prepared for this propaganda war. Mamizou is incredibly powerful and smart so I don't like their chances but perhaps they'll surprise me. Also, I am very disappointed in Mamizou for ruining Reimu's reputation with like the only person in town that actually has any respect for her at all. It's very rude.

I'm not so sure Kosuzu has any real respect for Reimu. She seems to mentally lump her in with "dumb adults who I can trick just by acting cute and polite". On the other hand, she also fantasized about Reimu's epic battle with the kappa and mentally blocked the idea that Reimu was as petty towards Sanae as she is, so I guess it's complicated.

Kosuzu is probably the only person in the village who would actively go to Reimu for help. Like in this chapter, it seems like Kosuzu asked for Reimu's advice regarding some ovious Tengu bias. And y'know that got to count for something. Sure, she'll also immediately suspect Reimu of working with a Menreiki in an evil plan and think her stupid for not solving the mystery of a fox at the school but she still seems to admire her in some odd ways. Kosuzu is weird.

I imagine he has a rough outline in his head but when it comes down to details beyond "Reimu and Marisa beat up bosses based on X concept" he probably doesn't consider them until maybe a game prior. Like, he certainly wasn't going to have Sanae heading into the underground, but when it came to the Palanquin Ship and the Mausoleum, he went "sure, why not?"

Most of the recent ones have had an interview like that, yeah, although the format varies, as does whether or not a translation exists. There's a video one for UFO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otIrJdoaITI, for example. I'm pretty sure ZUN said somewhere that he'd originally thought about creating an original third playable character for UFO, but he just went with Sanae in the end.
